Reporting to the Director, Finance and Commercial, you’ll lead a small, capable team and partner with senior leaders, finance colleagues, internal audit, legal, HR and external regulatory bodies including the Australian Taxation Office.

You’ll play an instrumental role in developing practical tax policies, strengthening GST governance, supporting transfer pricing documentation, and maintaining robust internal controls across Komatsu Mining Technologies Australian operations.

This role will suit an experienced tax and assurance professional who enjoys being close to the detail, interpreting complex legislation, partnering with stakeholders, and providing trusted technical advice in a multinational environment.

Your expertise will help ensure accurate and timely reporting, proactive regulatory engagement, and a strong culture of compliance, continuous improvement and accountability.

Key role functions.

  • Develop, review and refine taxation policies, procedures and governance frameworks, including Tax Policy and GST Governance
  • Prepare and lodge annual transfer pricing documentation and support cross-border tax compliance requirements
  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation and lodgement of ATO reporting obligations, including BAS, STP, PAYG, payroll tax and FBT
  • Manage formal tax assurance reviews and support internal and external audit processes
  • Support statutory, Board and group reporting requirements, including compliance with IFRS and reference to US GAAP reporting
  • Maintain and promote effective internal controls, including JSox and role-based segregation of duties
  • Monitor legislative changes, assess business impacts and provide practical advice to leaders and stakeholders
  • Lead, mentor and develop a small team while remaining hands-on in key tax, assurance and compliance activities, building a proactive culture of compliance and continuous improvement

What you bring.

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, law or a related discipline
  • Professional qualification such as CA and/or a Masters of Tax
  • Demonstrated technical expertise across direct and indirect tax
  • Experience in a large professional services or accounting firm, with multinational or cross-border dealings highly regarded
  • Experience managing relationships with the ATO and relevant statutory or regulatory bodies
  • Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to interpret complex legislation and translate it into practical business guidance
  • Proven leadership capability, including experience managing, mentoring and developing a small team
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management and influencing skills, with confidence using systems such as Excel, SAP and reporting tools

Your impact.

You’ll be a trusted technical leader who helps Komatsu maintain strong taxation governance, sound assurance practices and confidence in financial compliance.
