Job Overview

Komatsu is seeking an experienced Weld Shop Supervisor to lead a team of skilled welders supporting major mining equipment rebuilds, repairs, and fabrication projects. This role provides frontline leadership, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

The Weld Shop Supervisor will oversee daily shop operations, coordinate labor resources, provide technical guidance, monitor production schedules, and support a culture of safety and continuous improvement. This position plays a key role in helping integrate multiple product lines and repair capabilities across Komatsu's mining equipment portfolio. 

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Supervise shop crew from scheduling labor/parts to disciplinary issues.
  • Develop work scopes, time frames, parts, consumable and labor scheduling.
  • Quote and bill all shop welding work directly to the customer.
  • Settle customer disputes/discrepancies.
  • Work closely with manager and accounting to maintain revenue income.
  • Work closely with customer to meet their needs.
  • Ensure maintenance of welding equipment.
  • Evaluate each and every completed job to ensure quality and full work scope completion.
  • Lead, coach, and supervise a team of approximately 20 welders and shop personnel.
  • Assign and prioritize work to ensure projects remain on schedule.
  • Monitor manpower utilization and labor hour allocation across active projects.
  • Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support to welders.
  • Support integration of repair and fabrication work across electric shovels, electric drive trucks, hydraulic excavators, loaders, and other mining equipment platforms.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Able to work onsite from 1pm - 10pm Monday - Friday
  • Prior experience as a lead, supervisor, or manager for a team of welders
  • Very skilled certified welder that can understand and read blueprints, MOPs and follow a scope of work.
  • Minimum 5 years welding experience on vast range of mining equipment with a very good understanding of structure designs and wear package applications. 
  • Leadership and supervisor training preferred 
  • Strong understanding of OSHA and DOT regulations.
  • Must be able to maintain customer relations.
  • Must be able to understand the dollars side of the business to ensure profitability and utilization.
  • Must be very organized to keep up with the labor force, man hours, consumables, parts, safety/DOT training and maintenance of all equipment.
