Job Overview

Serve as the global business owner for a product line, driving strategy execution, market growth, and product development across a matrixed organization. Lead cross-functional efforts to optimize performance, define market needs, and deliver customer-focused solutions, without direct authority over operational teams.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • In alignment with agreed strategy, business owner of Global Product managing product’s business holistically cutting across our matrix organization, but without direct authority over individuals producing, selling, servicing, and marketing of the product line
  • Execute the strategy, sales, growth, pricing, costing, profitability, inventory, sourcing, quality, image, functionality, selling rate market share, competitive analysis and customer satisfaction globally for the Product offerings
  • Maintain business partners driving growth in terms of selling rate market share, sales revenue, operating profit percentage, and reducing capacity costs dollars, and ROIC percentage via innovative go-to-market strategie
  • Lead the “next model” development process blending market and business requirements to drive short-term business performance and long-term customer satisfaction. Define market needs, developing strategies, having the right features for the right market at the right time, maintaining clear USP differentiation versus competitors, roadmaps and manage the product 5-year development roadmap.
  • Central focus for product issues and opportunities in all regions. Pull and compile information from all external and internal sources globally.
  • In alignment with agreed budget, responsible for the budget and manpower of the group.
  • Direct or perform market research involving meetings with global customers and sales personnel to define global market needs.

Predominant Tasks

  • Prepare and present Global Product Line business review to Senior executives of the company. This includes everything related to the health of the Product business. Finance, Human resources, development, market segmentation strategies and risks
  • In consultation with PL Director develop Global Product Line business vision, mission, and strategy. Communicate this to all levels in the company
  • Execute strategy with all the regions
  • Meet with regions and review current market segmentation, and strategic action plans for all the regions.
  • Attend technical tender review meetings, give guidance on policies and strategic input.
  • Pre-review tender submission documentation that was prepared by Commercial and financial departments around the world.
  • Meet with Finance department and review financial statements related to the product. These include sales, bookings, and profit margins.
  • Review meeting with Chief Engineer and development team. Discuss technical review and current R&D spend.
  • Frequent meetings with customers on the mines and at head offices Globally.
  • Meet regularly with my direct reports to discuss objectives, review performance, and discuss career development.
    Set merit increase in line with company policy, review, and approve.
  • Review 5-year sales plan developed by all the regions and combined by Finance department
  • Review product marketing plan with Marketing department, also review regional marketing plans with each region

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in related field to our business (Engineering, Product Management, Operations) with business fundamentals, required
  • 10+ years of experience in mining or heavy equipment industries, or equivalent experience in global product management. 
  • Global Experience in other countries around the world will be an advantage.
  • Customer Interface experienc
  • Strong Leader, desired.
  • Financial acumen, desired.
  • Business acumen (MBA would be an advantage)
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with peers, managers, and subordinates
