Job Overview

Location: Warrendale, PA

Key Job Responsibilities

1. Conduct underground production unit evaluations to determine baseline performance of the mining system(s). This includes cutting, haulage, and bolting equipment performance cycles

2. Collect, analyze and organize site evaluation and machine data to create production models of both the current state of operation and future state. Requires proficiency in Excel-based software and understanding of building basic equations to calculate coordinated mining activities

3. Provide application knowledge and support to Sales & Service, Product Management, Engineering, Marketing and Senior Leadership teams

4. Work closely with Engineering to ensure accurate key performance metrics for our mining products that are demonstrated through the production modeling

5. Provide support to Product Management teams by identifying key underground application considerations such as geological, ventilation, and supporting mine systems such as material handling, electrical, etc. 

Predominant Tasks

1. Mining Application – Obtain mine specific date through mine visits, customer meeting, or through request for information.  Create mining production models that provide the potential for Komatsu solutions in specific applications.  Present production model results, both in-person and via Teams, to customers. Work with Sales to ensure accurate equipment tenders and meet KPI requirements. Advise correct approach to determining best-suited equipment for individual mining applications based on engineering evaluations of mining conditions and production requirements.

2. Smart Solutions Data Collection, Evaluation and Reporting - Assist the data analytical teams in understanding mining processes specifically related to the continuous miner Support their understanding of equipment choreography, specifically how the machinery is being utilized in specific applications. This typically includes demonstrating the cutting and haulage sequencing at the application

3. VOC – Voice of the Customer - Coordinate alignment between Komatsu and Customer to ensure the customer’s needs are being addressed appropriately and in-line with what Komatsu can provide.  Support of this effort primarily requires mine visits and meetings with the customer to liase and build the relationship.

4. Effective and Accurate Mine Visit Reports - Create formal reports that accurately document mine conditions, mining processes, and equipment time studies. Document meetings, findings, and potential opportunities for Komatsu at each mine site visited. Determine shortfalls and recommend improvements for increased production while maintaining alignment with safety and applicable mining regulations and standards.

5. Support Marketing Strategies - Participate in marketing events, conference and trade shows, such to enhance customer engagements

6. Assist with the creation of marketing materials such as production animations and brochures.

Qualifications/Requirements

  1. 5 years of relevant practical mining operations experience
  2. Project management skills, must be able to manage multiple tasks at one time.
  3. Effective oral and written communication skills. Fluent English communication skills.
  4. Attention to detail. Necessary editing ability for publication.
  5. Outstanding relationship building skills.
  6. Process development skills, ability to keep work flowing, minimizing problems or delays.
