Job Overview
The Senior Quality Manager Africa is responsible for leading the quality assurance , warranties and customer facing and quality control functions across the region, ensuring consistent standards and compliance with both local and international regulations to consistently meet customer expectations.
Job Specification (not totally inclusive)
- Participate and ensure team members and others comply with Komatsu’s Safety Management System, including carrying out safety observations and reporting of all hazards,
- Directing the quality management process to ensure products consistently adhere to rigorous technical, safety, and quality standards by supervising teams, optimizing material workflows, and deploying comprehensive quality control systems,
- Promote quality assurance and performance improvement through the organisation,
- Deploy, implement Maintain ISO certification - ISO 9001, ISO 3834, ISO 60079 and ISO 80079 -34
- Oversee the management of the quality adjudication of warranties per customer contract and company policy,
- Manage internal audits, supplier audits, quality processes, and process improvement programs to ensure compliance with standards, regulations, and company policies;
- Manage the creation, execution, and revision of quality plans to align Komatsu’s systems and policies with requirements, including audits and continuous improvement;
- Provide leadership and guidance on the exit audits of all machines in RSA plants to eliminate flaws at exit including the coordination and collection of Commissioning Flaws and Customer Surveys. Collect and categorise flaws by root cause,
- Direct and oversee the management and control of the Quality documentation system, including the database,
- Oversee the management of the inspection requirements and priorities at the RSA Distribution Center to ensure flow of product to meet the regional plant schedule while managing product risk,
- Participate in Komatsu’s Global Quality Network to maximise global resources to eliminate flaws both from overseas supplied machines, assemblies and parts as well as those supplied by African to the overseas locations,
- Implement QA systems, procedures and policies that will eliminate the variation in critical assembly and testing operations as well as verify success via suitable metrics reporting,
- Comply with all legal requirements, systems, policies, procedures, instructions and any other guidelines or rules which are introduced to protect the health and safety of employees and contractors, the company’s assets, the general public and the environment as out lined in the relevant Health, Safety and Employment Responsibility policies,
- Leading Quality culture change throughout the operations function and support ongoing changes within the business; and
- Ensure all financial transactions are conducted in line with Komatsu guidelines and policy.
Minimum Skills required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Quality Management, Engineering, or a related field,
- Six Sigma / Lean Manufacturing certification or training (e.g. Green or Black Belt) highly advantageous,
- Minimum of 5 years in a leadership position at senior management level, with a track record of leading teams is required,
- 10+ years of experience in Quality Management or Continuous Improvement, preferably in industrial or engineering environment,
- Proven experience in the management and delivery of projects successfully,
- Proficiency in systems such as SAP, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and
- Must have valid driver’s license and own reliable transport.
