Job Specification (not totally inclusive)
- Supervise QC Activities oversee day-to-day quality control operations on the production floor.
- Ensure QC inspectors and technicians follow testing and inspection procedures correctly and compliance with KMC Standards.
- Make sure that all products, services, or work processes meet internal standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., ISO 9000, SANSF60079 (Equipment protection by Flameproof enclosure “d”.
- Interpret KMC fabrication / Machining Drawing, specifications, and manufacturing quality standards.
- Record and analyze results to detect production issues;
- Identity and Address Defects raising quality Notification and investigating non-conformities, product failures and lead corrective and preventive action (CAPA) initiatives;
- Maintain accurate QC records, including inspection reports, test results, and compliance documents;
- Report defects, delays, and progress to QC managers or project leaders and Operation;
- Train and guide QC team members in quality standards procedures and assign tasks to QC staff;
- Recommend process improvements based on inspection data and performance trends;
- Support lean manufacturing or Six Sigma initiatives if applicable; and
- Ensure that safety procedures are followed during inspections and production.
Minimum Skills required.
- Qualified Artisan with trade papers and must have a certificate in Quality Management;
- Must have an N6 Engineering qualification or equivalent;
- A degree in Operations Management/Engineering will be an added advantage.
- Must have at least 8 years Quality/Manufacturing experience of which 3 years must have been occupying a leadership role;
- Must have proven experience in dealing with visual welding Inspection;
- Strong product knowledge and familiarity with underground mining operations is highly desirable;
- Must have sound technical understanding of manufacturing and assembly principles;
- Be able to read, understand and interpret engineering drawings and specifications;
- Be able to work with various technical tools i.e. measuring instruments and testing equipment and;
- Computer literate in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams)
