Job Overview
The position will be based in Wadeville, and the incumbent will report to the Operations Manager.
Job Specification (not totally inclusive)
• Drive Zero harm and management of safety initiatives and projects in line with Global principles, objectives, and standards;
• Drives strategic plan for the business unit/s to ensure business grows in a sustainable manner;
• Management of team members through the adherence of company policies and procedures;
• Management of resources and costs to ensure that productivity, recoveries, turnaround time and sales targets are met;
• Ensures compliance to production schedules, machine build plans, quality processes, efficiency standards and WIP;
• Drive Continuous Improvement initiatives to ensure operational excellence (OpEx);
• Align resource requirements with capacity plan and conduct forward looking exercises to create predictability;
• Promote the K-way and the Monozukuri principles of Komatsu;
• Training and mentoring staff; motivating them all for effective performance for the general growth of the company;
• Analyze and explore market trends; identifying new opportunities to grow the business and;
• Coordinate with other Head of Departments and managers to integrate objectives and ideas for organizational growth.
Minimum Skills required
• Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Production Management or similar qualification);
• Studying towards Post Graduate Qualification in Business and/or Project Management will be advantageous;
• Supervisory/Management Course – Focused on People Management will be advantageous;
• Proven experience in leading a production team within the Manufacturing/Operations and Engineering environment;
• Must have experience in executing plans, delivering business goals, and implementing changes to achieve or exceed targets;
• Knowledge and understanding of manufacturing and lean principles;
• Previous experience working within and/or managing a unionized workforce;
• Advanced computer literacy in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.);
• Experience using ERP’s (SAP) and;
• Must have a driver’s license and own transport.
