Job Overview


Reports to: Shop Foreman/Lead Hand on Shift 

Shift: 5x2

Location: Wabush, NL

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Mechanical assembly assistant. Dress mining Electric Shovel and Drill components, such as saddle blocks, breakout wrenches, crawler frames, and other common mechanical tasks.
  • Track and manage inventory on consumables and usage.
  • Arrange and organize materials for jobs.
  • Show some skill with hand tools and assembly and/or fabrication skills.
  • Duties may include moving machinery, tools and products to correct shop locations using an overhead crane/ telehandler or forklift.
  • Duties in the manufacturing and or refurbishment process for general labor tasks.
  • Painting components.
  • Prepping components for shipping ie: strapping pallets, arrange with the warehouse to receive components for shipping.
  • Assist Journeymen welders, mechanics and machinists. Follow directions from peers and supervisors.
  • Strong focus on shop cleanliness and removing excess material/garbage’s daily.
  • Other duties, as assigned.


  • Completion of high school diploma.
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a manufacturing and or refurbishment environment an asset.
  • Qualified candidates will have positive attitude, strong work ethic and mechanical ability.
  • Able to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Welding / grinding skills an asset.
  • Overhead crane or Mechanical lift truck experience an asset.
  • Previous related experience an asset.
  • Valid Driver’s License and own transportation are required.
  • Must have a strong safety focus.
