Job Overview

If you’re a Journeyperson Millwright who takes pride in keeping big iron running and enjoys tackling mechanical challenges head‑on, this role puts you right in the heart of Labrador City’s mining industry. You’ll work with heavy equipment, solve complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues, and be part of a team that values skill, safety, and craftsmanship. Reports to: Operations Manager
Shift: 7x7 rotation of days and nights
Allowances: Additional premiums and allowances are associated with this position due to location
Safety Sensitive: Yes- drug & alcohol testing, physical demand fit testing, RCMP criminal record check and submission of 5-year provincial driving record will be required
Travel: up to 25% travel within Canada and the USA
Relocation:
 This position does not offer relocation

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance, repairs, inspections, and servicing on mining equipment and components
  • Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and basic electrical issues
  • Adjust, repair, or replace defective parts, components, and systems in the shop or at customer sites
  • Test repaired equipment to ensure proper performance and reliability
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
  • Use micrometers and precision tools to measure tight tolerances
  • Work independently while also supporting and mentoring mechanics and apprentices in shop and field settings

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic or Millwright certification (Red Seal preferred)
  • 3–5 years of mining or construction equipment experience
  • Experience with Joy Global equipment is an asset
  • Strong ability to read and interpret technical manuals, specs, and warranty documentation
  • Proven troubleshooting skills across mechanical systems common to mining and construction equipment
  • Customer‑facing experience and an understanding of building strong client relationships
  • Eligible for access to any mine site
  • Ability to work independently in a shop environment
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to meet multiple deadlines
  • High commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork
