Job Duties and Responsibilities

Each day will present you with new challenges and opportunities to test and grow your skills.  As an Instructional Designer with Modular, you’ll be responsible for:

 

  • Follow established quality standards and processes to analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate interactive learning solutions for web-based, instructor-led, and/or blended delivery
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with mining engineers, product developers, and subject matter experts
  • Take the initiative to contribute to team goals and support company vision
  • Self-manage projects and meet strict delivery deadlines in support of product releases
  • Collaborate effectively in an online business environment using Microsoft Office tools for email, chat, and audio/video conferencing
  • Use instructional design process methodologies, including analysis of the audience, job tasks, the development of curriculum maps, storyboards, flowcharts, performance objectives, assessments, and learning activities that are measured against learner outcomes
  • Analyze existing materials (ex: PPT training presentations) and technical documentation, such as equipment operator guides and Wiki pages to determine content relevant to projects
  • Create and edit scripts, facilitator guides, participant guides, eLearning solutions (i.e., storyboards, etc.), videos, job aids, presentations, and other related learning solutions with a
  • focus on creative solutions to ensure content and assets developed are organized and convey appropriate meaning
  • Work with media/digital assets such as videos, narrations, images, presentations, layouts, and templates
  • Exchange feedback with peers and managers to improve the quality of learning material and personal performance

Required Skills

  • Ability to work on-site in our corporate headquarters in Tucson, AZ 
  • Bachelor's degree, with an emphasis in instructional design, technical communication, education, or equivalent discipline.
  • Two or more years of experience working in instructional design or technical writing roles
  • Skilled in the use of visual design, audio, and video editing tools, such as Snagit, Adobe products: Photoshop, InDesign, and After Effects. including narration integration in e-lessons
  • Proficiency in the use of authoring tools such as Adobe Captivate, Articulate Storyline, and working knowledge of SCORM
  • Previous experience with online course development, instructional design & technology
  • Positive attitude and ability to get along well with others in a team atmosphere
  • Exceptional work ethic and track record of personal initiative
  • Flexible and adaptable to new programs, systems, and processes in an evolving and technology-driven environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify training needs, create solutions, and organize complex information
  • Keen attention to detail, strong written/oral communication, and excellent organization skills

Desired Skills

  • Familiarity with using virtual technology and remote tools, such as VMware, AZURE Labs, and Remote Desktop
  • Experience developing in an LMS environment (such as D2L, Saba, Success Factors)
  • Master's degree in Instructional Design or related field
  • Experience with 3D modeling and Unity3D is a big plus
  • Experience with C, C#, or other OOP languages is also a big plus. Experience designing aesthetically pleasing and appropriately scaffolded online or blended courses for adult learners
  • Knowledge of Instructional Design methodology and Adult Learning Theory
  • Experience working with subject matter experts and engineers
