Job Overview
The Technical Communications Systems Analyst administers and supports the systems used to create and deliver technical content. This role analyzes business processes and system performance to identify opportunities for improvement, automation, reporting, and technology adoption. The position partners with business stakeholders, IT, and suppliers to implement solutions that improve efficiency, reliability, and user experience.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Collaboration: Partner with team members in Technical Communications, IT, business stakeholders, and vendors to support and enhance systems, gather requirements, resolve issues, and implement process and technology improvements.
- Information Development: Analyze business processes, system performance, and user needs to identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and technology adoption. Gather and validate business and system requirements through root cause analysis. Create and maintain operating procedures to support systems.
- Project Management: Lead and support projects involving system implementations, upgrades, integrations, reporting solutions, and process improvements. Manage project requirements, milestones, testing, user acceptance, and deployment activities.
- Leadership: Lead or support successful departmental and global initiatives that improve technical communication systems, processes, and content delivery capabilities. Provide guidance and training to users on systems and best practices.
- Cross-Functional Understanding: Apply knowledge of technical publications, parts information, and business processes to develop effective solutions that meet organizational needs.
- System Administration: Administer and support technical communication content systems. Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, coordinate upgrades, and support integrations with enterprise applications.
- Technology Leadership: Build reporting systems leveraging Power apps/BI for metric and KPI monitoring. Maintain and enhance power app techcomm solutions. Manage and test systems to ensure interoperability with other departmental, as well as enterprise, systems.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor's in related field and minimum of 3 years professional experience, or 5 years related work/military experience
- Experience administering, supporting, or improving enterprise applications, content management systems, or business systems.
- Strong project management skills that keep projects on track, countermeasure for project delays, and drive success
- Strong problem-solving, root cause analysis, and system knowledge.
- Travel up to 5-20% for training, project work, customer visits, industry events, or team meetings.
- Ability to build positive relationships within a team, and collaborate well with cross functional teams such as IT, service, and engineering.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with content management, structured authoring, publishing, translation, or content delivery systems.
- Experience leading or supporting cross-functional projects, system implementations, upgrades, or integrations.
- Experience in data reporting, data analysis tools and techniques
- Experience in building requirement definitions, user stories, and UAT testing of system releases including business case development.
- Experience with scripting, automation and visual technologies such as PowerShell, Python, SQL, PowerApps, BI, or similar tools.
- Commitment to staying updated with technology and best practices
- Commitment to continuous learning and understanding internal requirements and customer needs, and identifying solutions to bridge the gap.
