Job Overview
The Senior Accountant, Accounting Project will participate and assist with complex accounting projects within the organization, ensuring alignment with both US GAAP and IFRS standards. This role is a contributor in aligning accounting strategy with business partners, executing key projects, and ensuring accurate financial reporting across the organization. The ideal candidate will have strong accounting foundation and analytical skills, ability to compose clear and concise documentation to support accounting positions, capable of communicating cross-functionally to assist in project management initiatives and ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, including auditors.
Key Job Responsibilities
IFRS Transition:
• Assist in the organization’s transition from US GAAP to IFRS accounting standards, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
• Support execution of a comprehensive IFRS implementation plan, ensuring stakeholder engagement.
• Communicate and track the status of project deliverables; identify and socialize risks related to IFRS transition.
• Uphold project timeline and assist in change management communication.
• Analyze workpapers to understand process and conclusion reached as of current; apply IFRS guidance to assist in the development of revised ways of working.
• Serve as liaison between functional areas to resolve IFRS-related inquiries and challenges.
Project Management & Execution:
• Contribute to the execution and successful completion of major accounting projects, particularly those related to IFRS transition and other accounting initiatives.
• Assist in the development of detailed project timelines, monitor milestones, and drive accountability to ensure project completion in a timely manner.
• Support project management to guide cross-functional teams through transitions, ensuring clear communication, risk mitigation, and issue resolution.
Change Management & Stakeholder Engagement:
• Assist in implementation of change management strategies to facilitate the adoption of new accounting standards and systems across the organization.
• Analyze and communicate the impact of the IFRS transition and other accounting changes on business operations to various stakeholders.
• Participate in the development of training programs and knowledge-sharing sessions to equip accounting teams and other departments with the necessary skills and information for successful transitions.
Financial Reporting & Audit Coordination:
• Maintain high standards of documentation, ensuring consistency across all projects and reporting frameworks.
Cross-Departmental Collaboration & Strategy Alignment:
• Support business units and functional areas in aligning the goals of accounting projects, particularly the IFRS transition, with broader organizational objectives.
• Collaborate with finance, IT, and other departments to ensure cohesive and efficient project execution, particularly in systems upgrades or process reengineering related to IFRS.
• Leverage technology and financial systems to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of financial reporting and project management processes.
• Provide support in ongoing training and development materials focused on IFRS standards and change management practices, ensuring the team remains adaptable and skilled.
Qualifications/Requirements
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• CPA certification preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting, with a strong foundation in US GAAP and/or IFRS.
• Experience in contributing to projects involving adoption of new accounting standards and related process change is highly desirable.
• Technical Expertise: Proficient knowledge of financial systems (e.g., ERP systems [SAP], data analytics tools) and advanced Excel skills.
• Agility: Ability to multi-task among competing priorities and participate in large-scale accounting projects; navigates challenges and ambiguities effectively, ensuring project success.
• Detail-Oriented: Ability to memorize understanding in process and accounting positions, conduct thorough self-review of workpaper drafts in ensuring completeness and accuracy in conclusions reached.
• Effective Communicator: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to deliver clear, concise messaging tailored to various stakeholders and hold discussions with cross-functional teams.
• Team Player: fosters collaboration and assists stakeholders through transitions.
Additional Information
Hiring Range
At Komatsu, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. This role pays $90,000- $100,000. The actual offer will consider a wide range of factors, including experience and location.
