Job Overview

As a Rental/Yard Coordinator at Komatsu, you’ll take on a dynamic hybrid role—managing the end-to-end rental process while overseeing yard operations to ensure equipment is clean, organized, and ready for dispatch or return. You’ll serve as a vital connection between customers, service teams, and logistics, helping to keep operations running smoothly and efficiently. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working outdoors, has a strong mechanical aptitude, and thrives in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. In addition to your core responsibilities, you’ll also provide backup support at the parts counter, contributing to a seamless customer experience across departments.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Welcome and assist walk-in and phone customers with professionalism
  • Generate, manage, and adjust rental contracts based on customer needs
  • Validate customer account status, insurance, and creditworthiness
  • Coordinate equipment transportation and delivery schedules
  • Monitor and recover costs related to damage, fuel, and freight
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and perform cycle counts
  • Collaborate with service teams to ensure equipment availability and maintenance
  • Support the Credit Department with receivables and insurance documentation
  • Receive and check-in machines/attachments (fuel levels, hours, damage, photos)
  • Notify Rental Coordinator of arrivals and park equipment appropriately
  • Prepare equipment for outbound shipment (verify serials, load assistance, documentation
  • Wash, clean, paint, and shrink-wrap components as needed
  • Safely transport components between yard and shop using forklifts
  • Maintain yard organization and cleanliness; ensure equipment is stored orderly
  • Exercise machines periodically and complete consignment inspections
  • Support physical inventory counts and disposition of equipment for service

Qualifications/Requirements

  • A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required; some college education or technical training in a related field is preferred.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos to effectively fulfill job responsibilities.
  • Competent writing skills for drafting clear and concise correspondence.
  • Exemplary verbal communication skills to present information efficiently in both one-on-one and small group settings.
  • Basic mathematical skills, including the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, utilizing whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages, as well as calculate figures related to physical dimensions such as area, volume, and circumference.
  • Proficient problem-solving abilities to address challenges involving various concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Flexibility to work various schedules, including shifts, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the rental team.

Hiring Range 

At Komatsu, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. This role pays $NA. The actual offer will consider a wide range of factors, including experience and location.
