Job Overview

Are you a proven welding leader who thrives in a fast-paced mining and heavy equipment environment? We're looking for a hands-on Welding Shop Supervisor who can motivate a skilled trades team, champion safety, and ensure high-quality rebuilds and repairs are delivered on time and to the highest standards. This is an opportunity to play a key role in supporting customers, solving complex technical challenges, and growing our business.

 

Reports to: General Supervisor, Machining and Welding Shop
Shift: 7x7- rotation of days and nights
Allowances: Additional allowances may be associated with this position due to location
Safety Sensitive: Yes- drug & alcohol testing, physical demand fit testing, RCMP criminal record check and submission of 5-year provincial driving record will be required
Travel: up to 25% within Canada
Relocation:
 This position does not offer relocation

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise shop personnel, ensuring all work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company quality and operational standards
  • Coordinate and prioritize welding and component rebuild projects, partnering with the Parts Planner to support quotations, scheduling, pricing, and on-time delivery
  • Provide technical expertise and troubleshooting support for welding repairs, rebuilds, upgrades, and customer-related product issues
  • Collaborate with service, field, and sales teams to deliver seamless customer support while promoting the value of our welding services
  • Serve as the primary contact for mine sites requiring welding services, including customer meetings, site visits, and commercial support activities
  • Manage workforce planning and shop operations, including work assignments, shutdown support, documentation, quality control, and resource allocation

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Journeyperson Welding Certification with experience leading trades personnel in an industrial, mining, or heavy equipment environment
  • Strong knowledge of welding processes, repair methods, fabrication practices, and component rebuilds; P&H product experience is considered an asset
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to coach, mentor, and motivate a high-performing team
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and multitasking abilities with a focus on safety, quality, and customer service
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience with service reporting and maintenance documentation systems
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and repair procedures with confidence
