Job Overview
This position is responsible for providing a wide range of corporate human resource generalist activities, including HRIS data maintenance, talent management, performance management, employee development and training, policy development and administration, and general employee and management relations. This position will also assist with HR project management in support of enhancing business results and driving performance.
Shift: 5x2- Monday to Friday
Location: Sparwood, BC
Travel: Up to 10% across Canada and the US
Relocation: This position does not offer relocation
Key Job Responsibilities
- Serves as the first point of contact for employees and managers to answer routine questions and provide guidance on employee relations, and human resource policies and procedures. Escalates issues to the HR Manager as appropriate.
- Works with HR Managers and performance leaders across the organization to develop and update job descriptions, create job requisitions, and prepare and present offer letters.
- Facilitates the new hire onboarding journey and records employee data in SAP Employee Central.
- Administers HRIS entries and acts as a backup for KRONOS and benefits coordination, when required by the team.
- Collaborates with HR Managers and team to revise, edit, proofread and format company policies and procedures and related documents as needed. Ensures policies and practices comply with changing provincial laws and regulations and meet the organization’s objectives.
- Coordinates employee fringe benefit plans through finance/payroll, including health and wellness, employee referrals, and education tuition reimbursements.
- Coordinates semi-annual HR performance cycles with guidance from HR Manager’s and in collaboration with the team.
- Champions a safe and positive work environment by demonstrating HR and Komatsu’s core values and best practices.
- Partners with HR managers to coordinate the facilitation of corporate training.
- Assist with relocation and immigration administration when required.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Human Resources.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive HR experience. Combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Knowledge of all functional HR areas including employee relations, employment law, recruiting, performance management, compensation, benefits, and employee development.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with and develop effective relationships with all levels of employee stakeholders including management.
- Strong HR administration skills with a demonstrated ability to coordinate numerous activities within a deadline orientated environment.
- Intermediate to advanced skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Solid analytical, critical thinking skills and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Dependable can-do attitude with an enthusiasm for innovation and process improvement.
- Knowledge of SAP Success Factors is an asset.
- Previous work experience in the mining, manufacturing, or energy sector is a plus.
