Job Overview

 

Reports to: General Foreman, Field Service
Shift: 7x7, rotation of days/nights
Safety Sensitive: Yes- drug & alcohol testing, physical demand fit testing, RCMP criminal record check and submission of 5-year provincial driving record will be required.
Travel: up to 25%
Relocation: This position does not offer relocation

Key Job Responsibilities

 

  • Perform welding on the mining equipment
  • Maintenance, repair, service and inspection of the mining equipment
  • Proficiency in all positions use of: GMAW, FCAW, SMAW; all sizes of weld wire
  • Maintain company quality standards
  • Reading and interpretation of blueprints
  • Proficient in the use of oxy/fuel cutting equipment, electric welding machines
  • Maintain a clean, orderly and safe work environment
  • Ensuring the safety of both you and co-workers

Qualifications/Requirements

 

  • Journeyperson Welder certification required, Red Seal, NDT and/or CWB certification an asset
  • Previous experience work with P&H and Joy products would be an asset
  • No restrictions for access to any mine site
  • Heat treatment experience is an asset, as well as history of welding with 1/16 wire
  • Valid Driver’s License with no restrictions
  • Able to safely lift 50lbs unassisted
  • Experience in a customer-facing role and a sound understanding of the importance of customer relationships
  • Good organizational and planning skills
  • Hold a strong standard for quality and safety
  • Able to travel and work in remote locations
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision but also participate in the work of other mechanics and apprentices within the field environment
