Job Overview

As a vital member of the Komatsu team, you will play a key role as a Lube Technician, ensuring timely and effective repairs, lubrication, and maintenance on essential machinery and equipment in the field. This position requires a hands-on individual who takes pride in delivering high-quality service while adhering to company standards and safety regulations.

Scope of Responsibilities:

  • Achieve and maintain an annual repair efficiency of at least 85% to uphold our commitment to excellence.
  • Minimize annual rework hours to less than 3%, reinforcing the quality and reliability of our services.
  • Safely meet established standard repair times as defined by Komatsu, contributing to the overall operational efficiency.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct field lubrication and thorough inspections of various equipment to identify any needed repairs.
  • Complete assigned jobs efficiently, ensuring adherence to flat rate times and performance metrics.
  • Safeguard workplace safety by following all Komatsu and customer safety protocols and procedures.
  • Accurately complete related documentation required for every job, including work orders and parts orders, ensuring compliance with company policies.
  • Implement contamination control and hazardous materials (HAZMAT) regulations diligently.
  • Execute the removal and installation of parts, along with disassembly and assembly of components, demonstrating mechanical proficiency with minimal oversight.
  • Provide customers with accurate quotes and pricing estimates, ensuring transparency and trust in service delivery.
  • Diagnose equipment issues and recommend appropriate repair solutions based on findings.
  • Test and validate the correct operation of all repairs and adjustments, guaranteeing customer satisfaction.
  • Utilize general failure analysis methods and procedures to establish accurate diagnostics for equipment issues.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent general education degree (GED) is required; an Associate Degree in Diesel Technology or a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a related role, or equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary to thrive in this position.
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules, including potential shift work, to meet operational demands.
Language Skills
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and follow simple instructions, including correspondence and memos effectively.
  • Skill in writing clear and concise correspondence.
  • Proficiency in presenting information effectively in both one-on-one and small group settings, engaging customers and fellow employees alike.
Mathematical Skills
  • Proficiency in basic arithmetic including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Competence in calculating rates, ratios, and percentages accurately.
  • Able to perform calculations involving percentages, area, circumference, and volume with precision.
  • Skills in managing problems involving multiple concrete variables in standard conditions are essential.
Computer Skills
Familiarity with database software, internet applications, and manufacturing order processing systems is vital.

Ability to utilize intuition and prior experience to complement data analysis for troubleshooting.

Additional Information

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations
  • Possession of a current valid CDL with a clean driving record.
  • Certification to operate a forklift and/or manlift is required.
  • Must be prepared to complete a DOT physical examination as required.
  • Compliance with MSHA certification and respirator certification may be necessary at the company's discretion.
Tooling
Employees must have a basic set of mechanics tools that comply with minimum requirements established by Komatsu.
Policies and Procedures
Adherence to all company policies and procedures is mandatory for this role.
Work Environment
  • Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and various chemicals that may be toxic or caustic in nature.
  • Frequent exposure to humid/wet conditions and working at heights in precarious places.
  • Occasional exposure to extreme heat, with risks associated with electrical shock and vibration.
  • The noise level within the work environment is typically moderate, requiring appropriate hearing protection methods.
