Job Overview

Align the company's goals and objectives with actionable plans and projects for each department. Implement innovative technologies, systems, and procedures to enhance operational efficiency. Coordinate plant activities to ensure alignment with the annual business plan. Develop and execute strategies to optimize inventories of finished goods and raw materials. Additionally, introduce improvements in logistics to optimize raw material management.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Develop work plans and projects for departments that align with the company’s goals and objectives.  Introduce new technology, systems, processes, and procedures that increase operational efficiency.
    • Formulate business strategies to achieve the company’s plans and objectives.
    • Compare current business processes with other plants, businesses, and industries to identify best practices and systems that can be evaluated for TimberPro operations.
    • Production Planning activities and management
    • Evaluate the effectiveness of the projects as they relate to original objectives.  Track and report project status.  Adjust plans as needed.
    • Present plans to Department Managers, Plant Manager and Vice President.
  • Responsible for the management of Warehouse, Purchasing, Production Planning, Engineering Control Notice (ECN) implementation, Inventory Control Systems, and Simultaneous Engineering for new product prototyping.  Manage and monitor each department’s activities. Coordinate plant activities to meet annual business plan.
    • Develop and communicate goals and objectives of the company and of the plant to department managers and staff.
    • Train and develop managers and staff.
    • Provide regular performance feedback.
    • Recruit and select qualified employees.
  • Develop and implement ways to optimize finished goods and raw material inventories.  Introduce logistics improvements to raw material management.
    • Analyze market, distributor and supplier trends and capabilities.
    • Develop and manage the execution of inventory control plans.
    • Work with relevant departments and 3rd party logistics companies to develop logistics improvement plans.  Manage the execution of logistic improvement plans.
    • Manage warehousing activities, both for production and aftermarket operations.
    • Establish KPIs
  • Management of procurement and strategic sourcing activity
    • Responsible for the management and enhancement of Material Resource Planning (MRP) and coordinating with major suppliers to ensure accurate forecasting and supply for necessary components that will support production capacity expansion.
    • Communicates with various departments and vendors as needed to resolve outstanding problems, or issues.
    • Responsible for all activities involved in managing vendor schedule control to ensure on time delivery, accurate system records and target inventory levels.
    • Continuously monitors and establishes inventory improvement strategies to optimize inventory levels and improve lead times.
    • Establishes company inventory plans and continuously monitors for corrective actions and improvements.
    • Drive cost reduction through strategic sourcing activities for production and the aftermarket business.  Collaborate with other plants to identify sourcing and cost reduction opportunities. 
    • Develops and implements purchasing programs, processes, and procedures.
  • Support R&D prototyping activity by leading Simultaneous Engineering function to manage inventory and sourcing requirements.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • BS. Degree in Business or Engineering or 10-years minimum Mfg. Experience.
  • Experience with forecasting, production planning, MRP and inventory control.
  • Experience with calculating manufacturing costs.
  • Experience with warehouse systems and logistics including milk runs, JIT delivery and Radio Frequency barcode warehouse control systems.
  • ERP (SAP and/or Syteline) systems experience including MRP, Purchasing, Engineering Control, BOM, Quality Control, Production Control, Costing, and Warehouse.
  • Computer systems and networks development.  Data management and reporting.
  • High competency in MS Excel, MS Word, MS Access, MS Power Point, MS Visio

Additional Information

This position is required to be onsite 5x a week due to the nature of the role and cross functional relationships.
