Job Overview
- Perform in engineering projects to develop, maintain and support components, products and/or services per market demands, as well as for continual process improvements.
- Perform or conduct engineering evaluations including investigations, basic calculations and tests that have well defined requirements and desired outcomes.
- Provide conceptual and strategic solutions to solve problems that are associated with engineering projects or evaluations
- Take responsibility for one's own learning and development for the mutual benefit of one's self and the organization
- Act as a group leader for those who are supporting components, products and/or services as well as continual improvements in engineering processes
- Participate in and support programs for effective communication of engineering issues to ensure compliance with global standards for design and safety of products and services, as well as engineering best practices
- Participate in and support improvements to streamline engineering processes used to design, develop, maintain and support components, products, and/or services. 8. Participate in effective Change Management to achieve the desired organizational outcomes by successfully changing individual behaviors as needed.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Supervise small groups in performance of a specific task, project, or function
- Review current designs or specific components as assigned for cost reduction
- Determine the cause of a field problem and propose corrective action if appropriate
- Meet with suppliers as directed concerning changes to, or new requirements for, their products
- Perform assigned engineering evaluations, including calculations and testing as required, and consult with more experienced Engineers/Technologists or CTE for problem resolution
- Set up and perform engineering tests to satisfy well-defined requirements
- Maintain awareness of and familiarity with Global and Regional regulations, standards and industry guidelines applying to KOMATSU MINING products
- Make field trips to mines to observe machines in operation and gain an understanding of their application parameters. Develop ability to recognize problems and recommend corrective action.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or equivalent relevant discipline, required
- 4 years’ experience in engineering design, machine application, mining industry, desired
- Experienced in the use of computer-aided design (CAD) tools, desired
- Participation in implementing Lean Engineering principles, desired
- Participation in effective Change Management implementation, desired. 6. Experience in cross-functional team assignment(s), highly desired
- Certifications or demonstrated project management, desired
- Professional registration and/or membership in committees and/or technical societies, beneficial.
