Job Overview

Implements the Recruitment and Selection process, Training & Development, Affirmative Action program, Employee Relations, and Human Resources administration for employees at multiple branch sites.  Participates in a wide variety of HR activities/projects that may include Recruitment and Selection, Employee Relations, Training, Affirmative Action/Diversity, Employee Development, and Compensation.  Serves as HR point of contact for branch employees.



This position provides support and guidance to employees in multiple divisions, and in some cases across multiple locations. 

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Employee Relations: Investigates issues (utilizing proactive visible management and consulting both employee and management with resolution).  Activities include performance management assistance, employee development, goal setting, conflict resolution, etc.  Provide guidance to area and department managers in the administration of performance management and compensation systems for both exempt and nonexempt employees.  Responds to inquiries regarding personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, and terminations.  
  • Policies, Procedures and programs:  Communicates and responds to inquiries regarding company policies, procedures and programs to employees and management with consistent application.  Performs routine audits and research, as applicable, on Company policies.  Drafts new or revised policies as necessary. 
  • Recruitment:  Actively recruits for the branches in Construction Equipment Division for distribution.  Responsible for sourcing, screening, and interviewing high quality internal and external candidates, negotiating salaries, offer terms and closing candidates.  Oversees the applicant flow log for the Affirmative Action Programs.
  • Compensation/Benefits:  Partner with the Manager of Compensation to ensure internal equity is maintained through the fair and consistent application of company pay and promotion practices.   Conduct annual compensation surveys within the areas in an effort to maintain a competitive wage for staff. Communicate with employees to ensure understanding of benefit programs and counseling employees as situations arise.  Resolve any customer service issues or concerns from employees regarding benefits.  
  • Training & Employee Development:  Plan, conduct and track classes to enhance employee education and development that foster the overall strategic goals of the Company.  These programs may consist of: employee orientation; sexual harassment; benefits; Affirmative Action Initiatives; OJT; leadership development; and performance management.   
  • Safety:  ensure employees maintain a safe and healthy work environment, follow the 5S principles and promote good safety practices.  Ensure compliance to all federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Affirmative Action:  Assist in completing affirmative action plans.  Strive to reach diversity targets each year.


  • B.S. degree in Human Resources/Business Administration or related field required or equivalent work experience. 
  • 3+ years generalist background required with a strong emphasis on Recruitment, Employee Relations, Performance Management, Compensation, Affirmative Action/Diversity and Training & Development. 
  • Strong working knowledge of Human Resources best practices with a solid understanding of employment law including EEO, FLSA, FMLA, ADA, Wage & Hour law and AAP.
  • Excellent analytical abilities; must be able to reach sound business conclusions through logical thought and sound judgment. 
  • Communication skills (both written and oral) to effectively assist managers with HR related issues and interact with all levels of the organization. 
  • Ability to handle confidential information in a professional manner. 
  • Strong time management and organizational skills as well as the ability to multi-task. 
  • Strong PC skills including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. 
  • Physical Requirements:  This position requires sitting for extended periods of time over 90% of the work period to complete detailed work, typically using a PC.  The position periodically required walking throughout the plant or facility.  The position occasionally requires working extended periods to meet time sensitive deadlines. Some travel is required.
