Job Overview

As a Shop Technician, you will provide timely, effective troubleshooting and repair of Komatsu equipment and components in a shop environment at our Salt Lake City facility.

 

Scope
 

  • Maintain an annual repair efficiency of 85%
  • Maintain annual rework hours (as a percentage of hours billed) of less than 3%
  • Must be able to meet standard repair times as defined by Komatsu Equipment Company (KEC) job codes listed in PFW
  • Maintain all company balanced scorecard goals
  • Maintain a minimum average score of 4 – 6 on the Technical  Section of the Technician Competency Matrix
  • Maintain a minimum average score of 4 – 6 on the Soft Skills Section of the Technician Competency Matrix
  • Attain a score of no lower than 7 on the Safety Section of the Technician Competency Matrix

 

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Complete assigned jobs and task to meet flat rate times and redo metrics
  • Work safely and follow all Komatsu/customer safety policies and procedures
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment, provide recommendations for repairs
  • Apply general failure analysis and procedures to determine proper diagnosis.
  • Complete related paperwork and access databases require to complete job (work order, parts order, JSA, DBS, SIMS, SIS web, STW) accurately and timely
  • Follow contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations
  • Remove and install parts, disassemble and assemble components, and test and adjust assemblies with minimal supervision
  • Provide accurate quotes and pricing estimates to the customer
  • Test and verify correct operation of all repairs and adjustments

Qualifications/Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
  • Minimum of 2 years related experience and/or training in diesel maintenance
  • Flexibility to work various schedules including shift work
  • Associate Degree in Diesel Technology or equivalent preferred
  • Current Class B CDL preferred
  • Knowledge of database software and order processing systems preferred
  • Use intuition and experience to complement data

Additional Information

  • Certified to operate a forklift and/or manlift.
  • Must be able to pass a background check / urinalysis
  • May be required to complete a DOT physical.
  • Required to complete MSHA certification.
  • May be required to complete respirator certification.
  • Required to provide a basic set of mechanics tools that meet minimum requirements as defined on Komatsu Equipment Company technician tool list
