Job Overview

The Service Planner plays a critical role in supporting Komatsu’s field service operations by planning, scheduling, and coordinating maintenance activities to meet customer needs. This role ensures jobs are prepared, resourced, and executed efficiently while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and customer satisfaction. The Service Planner is also responsible for cost tracking, reporting, and effective communication across teams, vendors, and customers.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Ensure a safe working environment by enforcing company safety rules and cultivating a safety-first culture.

  • Plan, schedule, and prioritize maintenance and service jobs—including day-to-day tasks, planned outages, and emergency breakdowns—in alignment with customer needs and labor availability.

  • Coordinate job preparation, including staging, labor planning, parts/materials ordering, and vendor arrangements.

  • Monitor and audit service jobs to ensure quality standards are met and customers receive dependable, productive service.

  • Track and analyze job costs, prepare preliminary invoices, and generate cost reports for management review.

  • Maintain accurate records in ERP systems, SharePoint/Teams, and other electronic recordkeeping tools.

  • Collaborate daily with Field Service Supervisors to adjust manpower, schedules, and resources.

  • Support preventive maintenance planning, job scope development, and reporting on key performance indicators.

  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with supervisors, planners, vendors, and customers to meet deadlines and exceed service expectations.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.

  • Experience in service planning, scheduling, or maintenance coordination within heavy equipment, mining, or industrial environments is highly desirable.

  • Strong computer skills, including SAP, MS Office, Gantt charts, SharePoint/Teams, and ERP systems.

  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance practices and machine components.

  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work across teams and with external vendors.

  • Ability to maintain awareness of safety practices and apply them consistently in shop, plant, or mine environments.

  • Willingness to occasionally lift up to 30 lbs and work in a high-paced environment with potential exposure to mechanical parts, fumes, and outdoor conditions (PPE required).

Additional Information

 

Hiring Range 

At Komatsu, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. This role pays $75,000 - 100,000. The actual offer will consider a wide range of factors, including experience and location.
