Overview.

Komatsu is seeking a proven project manager to join the Global Strategic Sourcing Team. This Regional Rebuilds Manager position has been newly created to lead and execute strategic operations initiatives supporting our Longwall product line across NSW and QLD. This is a highly visible role partnering closely with Product Lines, Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, and key suppliers to deliver safe, on-time, and high-quality outcomes for our customers. 

 

About the role. 

Reporting to the Senior Global Strategic Sourcing Manager based in Moss Vale, this position is responsible for supplier development, project management, and operational excellence across Komatsu and subcontractor facilities.  

 

You will act as a key liaison between customers, site leaders, and subcontractors, ensuring manufacturing, quality, safety, and delivery commitments are achieved. 

 

This role involves significant on-site engagement and travel and is ideal for someone who thrives in complex, fastpaced manufacturing and project environments. 

 

This role sits within Komatsu’s Global Strategic Sourcing team while delivering local strategy and offers strong career development and succession opportunities for the successful candidate. 

 

The position is to be based at Komatsu’s Moss Vale or Rutherford facilities.  

 

Key responsibilities.

  • Promote and embed Komatsu’s “zero incident” safety culture across all Komatsu and subcontractor locations 
  • Drive and execute strategic operations initiatives for the Longwall product line across NSW and QLD 
  • Lead end‑to‑end project management activities, including scope, planning, risk, quality, safety, and delivery 
  • Champion process improvements to enhance on‑time delivery and support transitions of work between centres of excellence 
  • Oversee supplier performance, capacity planning, and manufacturing execution in line with financial commitments 
  • Conduct project risk reviews, functional safety assessments, and manage design/manufacturing implications 
  • Partner closely with Product Lines, Sales, Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, EH&S, and Finance 
  • Ensure all goods and services comply with Komatsu quality, EH&S, and governance requirements 
  • Maintain positive relationships across OEM and subcontractor facilities 

About you.

You are a resultsdriven leader with strong technical, commercial, and stakeholder management capability. You are confident operating across organisational boundaries and influencing outcomes without direct authority. 

You have a trade or engineering technical background working with Longwall mining equipment and are able to meet the travel requirements of the role (up to 50%), including visits to supplier sites to oversee project delivery.

Applied Knowledge: Applies technical and product knowledge to ensure safe, compliant, and highquality outcomes across the Longwall product lifecycle.

  • Regular work across Komatsu and supplier sites (mostly NSW). 
  • Up to 50% travel, including potential domestic and international travel. 
  • Frequent contact with customers, suppliers, manufacturing teams, engineering, sales, product team and senior management.
