Job Overview
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Manager to work with our Control and Automation team. Reporting to the Director, Longwall Systems you will work closely with the Australian and overseas OE teams to derive solid strategies in keeping Komatsu at the forefront of the Longwall Control and Automation space.
Key Job Responsibilities
As Engineering Manager – Longwall Control and Automation, you will lead and manage our team of Longwall C&A Product Engineers with day to day responsibilities to include:
- In conjunction with the overseas OE teams, derive solid strategies to keep Komatsu at the forefront of the Longwall C&A space;
- Leading and managing the setting up and execution of a robust Longwall business plan to support our customers and the delivery of new technologies and field upgrades;
- Meeting or exceeding expectations in line with the Forecast Profit Plan for the Business
- The day to day management of longwall related C&A programs and customer support mechanisms;
- Driving the Account Management process that generates a "partnering relationship" with customers and demonstrates the value that Komatsu brings to this relationship;
- Driving Quality improvement of the C&A delivery process;
- Ensuring project delivery risks are identified, managed and resolved;
- Ensuring that the delivery of new products or services to OE and rebuild projects meet the requirements for on-time, on-specification and on budget;
- Pro-actively managing and driving project costs down, and providing leadership in defining the minimum cost alternative that meets customer requirements;
- Adhering to all Komatsu safety policies and procedures and promote these in all interactions with team members, customers and suppliers; as well as
- Supporting Life Cycle Management, jointly developed with other team members to reduce our customers life cycle cost.
Qualifications/Requirements
To be successful for this role, you will need:
- A Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) is desirable
- Minimum 8 years in depth experience on mining control and automation systems and underground coal mining
- Minimum 5 years responsibility for a strategic planning/ operations or project management role
- Minimum 5 years responsibility for a customer facing role
- Proficient knowledge of Komatsu/Joy Longwall Control Systems would be desirable
