Job Overview
As a Service Supervisor at Komatsu in Rock Springs, WY, you will play a pivotal role in leading and managing a team of technicians to ensure the timely and effective repair and maintenance of heavy equipment. Key Job Responsibilities
Oversee shop and field repairs, ensuring high standards of service and maintenance of equipment are upheld, while directing troubleshooting, inspections, repairs, and tests as necessary.
Develop, implement, and maintain detailed daily repair schedules for all personnel to ensure operational efficiency and timely service delivery.
Create and manage work orders, oversee the procurement of necessary parts and materials, and ensure that all pertinent information is provided to service clerks for work order closure and invoicing in line with company policies.
Maintain clear and consistent communication with customers, providing them with repair estimates, change recommendations, and scheduling updates, as well as obtaining their approval as needed.
Ensure all new equipment is received, pre-delivered, and delivered in optimal condition, while maintaining adequate records and informing the sales department of any issues or statuses.
Provide timely repair estimates and recommendations for the Sales Department and supervise the maintenance and condition assessment of all rental units upon arrival.
Coordinate with outside vendors and manufacturer representatives regarding repairs and maintenance to ensure the best service and quality standards.
Oversee the maintenance and cleanliness of shop areas, bays, trucks, tool rooms, as well as component overhaul and testing areas, ensuring a safe working environment.
Take responsibility for managing all specialized tooling, ensuring that tools are properly maintained and updated in line with operational requirements.
Maintain and oversee the handling of failed parts removed from equipment, ensuring compliance with company guidelines on both internal and warranty repairs.
Qualifications/Requirements
Associate's Degree in Diesel or Equipment Technology or equivalent technical certification strongly preferred, providing foundational knowledge required for the role.
A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience as a heavy equipment technician in either the construction or mining industries, demonstrating a proven track record of performance.
Thorough understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and structural systems as they pertain to heavy machinery.
Comprehensive knowledge of company products, including their specifications, applications, operation procedures, maintenance requirements, and repair methods.
Certification to operate a forklift and/or manlift is required to facilitate various tasks within the workshop.
Completion of MSHA certification is mandatory to ensure safety compliance while operating in regulated environments.
Possess a complete set of mechanics tools meeting the minimum requirements as defined by Komatsu Equipment Company’s technician tool list.
Must adhere to all company policies and procedures, demonstrating integrity, reliability, and commitment to the organization’s standards and goals.
Additional Information
This position regularly involves exposure to moving mechanical parts as well as toxic or caustic chemicals, necessitating adherence to safety protocols.
There will be frequent exposure to varying environmental conditions, including wet/humid situations as well as high and precarious working locations.
Occasional exposure to extreme heat, electrical shock risks, and vibrations is expected, necessitating alertness and precautionary measures.
The noise level in the work environment generally remains moderate, but personal protective equipment should always be used as required.
May be required to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical to fulfill job responsibilities and maintain compliance.
Hiring Range
