Job Overview

Provides the resource to lead and direct the Materials Management function that is responsible for finished goods and core inventory performance, months on hand and overall availability.  This position determines and executes the Parts Division inventory strategy in alignment with KAC business plans and global product support strategies.  This position develops a varied strategy to support product lines with different expectations and goals.  The materials function consists of forecasting, inventory planning, supplier scheduling and capacity management, and expediting for KAC’s Distribution Network, both central and regional.  Manages the process for scrap and asset disposition of non-moving inventory. Additionally, manages inventory at Komatsu Distribution locations (RIM).

Scope
 

Manages the day to day tasks for 40 FTE’s, whose responsibilities are forecasting, planning, and execution of supply chain signals to a supply base of 1,100 suppliers.  Responsible for $450M in inventory deployed to a total of 8 depots, a master PDC including consignment sites.  Manages requirements for up to 300,000-part numbers of which 175,000 are actively stocking parts within the supply chain.   Responsible for annual purchases of $305M.   

 

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Provides direction to the Materials Department to insure accurate forecasts, timely execution of system signals, and collaboration within the entire supply chain.
  • Direct the maintenance of the parts forecasting systems evaluating enhancements to assure availability to customers and maintain inventory levels within Company policies and goals.
  • Establishes and refines measurements for key performance metrics providing analysis, reporting and recommendations for improvement on a timely basis.
  • Drives for Materials management process improvements to improve inventory efficiencies and service levels.
  • Direct the materials resources to manage supplier performance and pro-actively manage supplier capacity constraints through prioritization and collaboration.
  • Train employees to identify and solve problems using Komatsu Way processes and principles.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Materials Management, Business or Management related field. Master’s degree a plus.
  • 5-7 years’ experience in Distribution, Materials, Manufacturing or related fields.
  • Strong oral, written and interpersonal skills a must.
  • Extreme sense of urgency for self and all subordinates.
  • Results and process oriented: change agent.
  • Professional level PC, ERP, planning system skills.
  • APICS Certification a plus.
  • Regular attendance.
  • Physical Requirements:  While performing the duties of this job, the associate is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 1-10 pounds.  Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application information.  The associate frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear.
