Job Overview

This position is responsible for ensuring Komatsu has in local inventory the necessary components to support our North America fleet of machines.  The Demand Planning Specialist works with various internal and external suppliers from around the world to place orders based on demand, lead time, machine population & life cycle considerations and market intelligence.  Their top priority is to maximize wholesale availability so that Komatsu machines can continue to operate without downtime.  This is balanced with careful inventory control so that turns or months on hand is effectively managed.  They are a part of a team who supports over $200M in annual sales with over $100M in inventory.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Proactively manage the strategic product groups (i.e. Remanufactured Parts and Major Component Parts for Heavy Equipment Machinery) through input into planning system that controls inventory while maintaining acceptable order fill rate levels. 
  • Addresses expediting needs to ensure stock availability minimizing backorders and stock out conditions
  • Maintains performance metrics, conduct root cause analysis, and establish countermeasures to achieve business plan objectives
  • Manages capacity constraints of key suppliers and tactical supplier relationships
  • Manages core (used parts) requirements to support remanufactured parts requirements
  • Determines rework and interchangeability to minimize inventory surplus and obsolescence risk
  • Balances market intelligence with system recommendations
  • Participates in monthly Major Component SIOP (Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning) process for mining and quarry size machines

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Materials Management, Supply Chain, Logistics, Purchasing, or a related business discipline preferred. APICS certification or work towards certification a plus.
  • 3-5 plus years of experience in planning and supply chain execution
  • Professional communication, both written and verbal
  • Responds quickly to changing business priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
  • Embraces accountability and responsibility – individual and shared.  Acts as back up for the Manager as appropriate
  • Professional PC skills in Excel, Power Point, Access, SAP, Servigistics or other commercial inventory planning systems
  • Travel requirements (10%)

 

Hiring Range 

At Komatsu, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. This role pays $68,200.00 - 85,300.00. The actual offer will consider a wide range of factors, including experience and location.
