Job Overview

This role will play a pivotal role in support of Komatsu North America’s Smart Construction commercial expansion, as a key member within the Smart Construction Design team which develops 3D construction models for Komatsu Dealers and/or customers throughout North America. Within the Customer Solutions group, the Smart Construction team is responsible for development, marketing, and delivery of a suite of innovative digital solutions to the North American construction market.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Provide a quality 3D modeling solution to be utilized in 3D systems manufactured by TopCon, Trimble, Carlson, Leica, and others.
  • Utilize the latest software to produce 3D surface models for GPS machine control and construction layout equipment
  • Primary duties include producing 3D GPS models and Takeoffs for end-customers or Komatsu Dealers
  • Responsible for accurate data and making sure the information provided is translated into construction equipment properly.
  • Regularly engage customers and/or collaborate on delivery of projects within the desired time frame
  • Assist in troubleshooting, coaching, or training customers and Dealers on machine control technology and 3D project models as needed

Qualifications/Requirements

Required Skills

  • Ability to read construction plans and AutoCAD files. The role will regularly engage end-customers to discuss projects
  • Proficiency in Carlson, or other civil design software is desired Prior drafting or 3D modeling experience
  • Comfortable using the various tools of Microsoft Office suite
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong self-motivation with the ability to multitask, manage work independently
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required – bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Professional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to interface and communicate with many levels internally and externally with a customer’s project team including managers, engineers, superintendents, foremen, grade checkers, and operators
  • Strong computer skills are a necessity; ability and willingness to learn new software programs are required

Preferred Skills

  • Extensive math skills
  • Familiarity with construction OEM, Dealer, and customer relationship in the heavy equipment industry
  • General understanding of Komatsu Intelligent Machine Control technology and Smart Construction/jobsite digital solutions

Additional Information

 

Hiring Range 

At Komatsu, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. This role pays $95,000. The actual offer will consider a wide range of factors, including experience and location.
