Job Overview

 

Candidate will be responsible for implementing, improving and maintaining the Packaging standards for inbound service parts. Responsible for implementing customer packaging standards for outbound material in alignment with business objectives. Design proper packaging to protect and preserve product.  Develop specific packaging guidelines while considering safety, plant specific racking, and equipment constraints.

 

Scope

· Owns and executes warehouse process improvement initiatives that increase throughput, reduce costs, improve delivery performance, and enhance safety and quality outcomes.

· Develop and maintain packaging requirements for incoming and outgoing material.

· Designs and maintains warehouse process standards, layouts, and standard work for inbound, storage, picking, packing, and shipping operations

· Recommend tooling, fixtures, material handling solutions, equipment and system purchases to support current and future operational needs.

· Work with distributors and suppliers to assure conformance to packing item specifications.

· Investigate claims for damaged goods and maintain corrective action reports.

Key Job Responsibilities

· Lead and complete projects assigned timely by utilizing project planning tools and communicating with all aspects required to successfully complete each project.

· Understand capital and departmental budget to assist in cost management while improving the safety, quality, and cost of all processes assigned.

· Develop packaging requirements for spare parts department, suppliers, and 3PL.

· Assist in negotiating purchasing agreements specific to packaging.

· Conduct root cause analysis for safety, quality, delivery, and cost issues utilizing the Komatsu way; implement and verify corrective actions timely.

· Utilize Lean Manufacturing tools, 5S, Standard Work Instructions, Gemba, Kaizen, and PDCA.

· Perform time studies to determine best warehouse practices.

· Identifies bottleneck areas and develop countermeasures to reduce and/or eliminate - goal is to increase efficiency. Maintains an up-to-date layout of the area assigned.

· Manage multiple improvement projects using basic project management tools and clear communication with stakeholders

· Supports the departmental goals and apply experience to achieve timely resolve of assigned tasks. Ensure ISO documents are up to date with current processes.

· Other activities as assigned by management.

Qualifications/Requirements

· Bachelor of Science Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and/or equivalent experience.

· Minimum of 1 to 3 years of experience in the manufacturing engineering field. Working knowledge of warehouse processes including receiving, put-away, picking, packing, and shipping.

· Demonstrated experience using Lean tools and continuous improvement methodologies.

· Proficient with all computer applications, i.e. Excel, Word, Power Point, Project Management etc.

· Proficient using 3D CAD and AutoCAD software.

· High-level skill in setting standards, methods improvements, layout design, assembly tooling/fixtures, line balancing, and equipment justification.

· Excellent communication skills, verbal, written, and phone are essential.

· Ability to simultaneously work on many projects is required.

· Cross functional collaboration experience required.

· Ability to read and understand engineering prints

· Accuracy and attention to detail are required

· Cost analysis/saving focus

· Strong analytical, problem-solving, patience, persistence and organizational skills.

· Must comply with all environmental and safety rules, and practices.

Hiring Range 

At Komatsu, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. This role pays $79,200 - $99,100. The actual offer will consider a wide range of factors, including experience and location.
