Job Overview

Provides for worldwide sourcing, pricing, and on-time delivery of all raw materials (steel plate, tubing, bar stock, etc.), castings, forgings, fabrications, machined parts, gears, and subcontract operations on proprietary designed fabrications, and machined components required to support production at Peoria.

Oversee the department responsible for developing and maintaining Peoria Operations Manufacturing Plans and Master Production Schedules. Develop and manage systems that control all product changes/introductions into the manufacturing bills of material.  Manage Inventory levels, including W.I.P, On Hand, Finished Goods, and the safety stock of parts to meet both production and remanufacturing activities. 

Oversees the purchasing and delivery of materials necessary for production activities.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Manages the staff of the Purchasing, Material Planning, and Sourcing departments to achieve business objectives for on time delivery and target cost.
  • Leads staff in identifying and (in conjunction with the quality group) qualifying vendors for the raw materials necessary to produce quality products at the Peoria manufacturing facilities within desired delivery timeframes. Initiates corrective actions in the event of quality and/or delivery issues with said suppliers. Negotiates equitable pricing schedules with vendors for the materials and aids in keeping the facility within material variance costs.
  • Establishes relationships with key suppliers (e.g., Cummins, GE, and Siemens) to ensure that quality, cost, and supply chain logistics are met within contractual guidelines. Works with the vendors to continuously improve and shorten lead times for materials.
  • Develop, enhance, test, and expand electronic systems that support the purchasing and sourcing functions. (Baan enhancements, E-Commerce, Defect Tracking Systems, supplier performance, etc.)
  • Ensure that Baan system (and related applications) is used (and properly maintained) to the fullest extent possible in support of purchasing and company-wide ERP objectives.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Supplier Performance measurements related to quality, cost, and delivery.
  • Configure Bann projects’ customized bills of material to meet customer and/or forecast/matrix requirements. Establish production schedules based on known and forecasted sales and ensure appropriate inventory is obtained to meet production requirements.
  • Lead the administration, processing, and communication of all product shipments and follow-up to assure on-time shipment and specification compliance. Maintain Equipment Shipping Schedule to report actual shipment records.
  • Schedule and reschedule projects to support customer requirements as well as production capacities.
  • Develop and maintain production and material plans/schedules to meet Sales & Inventory requirements. Participate as a member of the Product Teams coordinating new model and/or block change introductions, SFR control, etc., to assure products continue to meet market needs.
  • Quote/commit equipment deliveries for all Peoria-produced equipment, arrangements, and miscellaneous orders to meet customer needs and best utilize manufacturing resources.
  • Co-manage the Engineering Change Process with Cost Management and Engineering to assure changes are introduced into the MFG. BOM and Production Schedule on a cost, delivery, and inventory effective basis.
  • Oversee reports of orders received and shipments to support accounting ledgers and the forecast/matrix to support the accuracy of customized projects.
     

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree holder with at least 3-5 years experience in process improvement and/or Lean Six Sigma certification/ Project Management Professional certification a plus.
  • At least 3-5 years of varied and progressively responsible business experience that includes: Warehouse Management Systems management, Operations Lean Manufacturing, and Operations management.
  • Experience leading small to medium-sized teams and vendors, across multiple functions within the enterprise.
  • Strong business process skills, project leadership, and problem-solving skills are required.
  • Must have excellent and persuasive oral and written communication skills. Must be capable of creating clear and effective presentations and/or meetings with clients, peers, and management.
  • Proven ability to train, develop and motivate personnel
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

Hiring Range
