Job Overview

The Product Manager - EDT is responsible for product strategy, product development and global marketing for Komatsu Electric Drive Truck (EDT) product line. This Role will require global travel for meetings with our regional subsidiaries, distributors, suppliers and customers. The EDT Product Line has Annual Sales of approximately 200 units and $250 million.  Largest markets include Australia, South America and North America. The Product Manager - EDT will lead and develop EDT Team Members and must also collaborate effectively across functions (engineering, manufacturing distributors, customers). Sales and Market Share Goals will be developed by the Product Manager - EDT, and approved by the Product Director - EDT,  Vice President - Mining Products and Office of the Chairman.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategic marketing plan for the product segment(s).
  • Provide high value technical sales support to worldwide Komatsu Regional Sales Teams, Global Accounts Teams, and distributors through day-to-day sales and marketing activities, product training, customer visits, competitive comparisons, job studies, and presentations to achieve sales and profit objectives.
  • Lead, coordinate, and execute new product introduction programs, including sales material, parts stock, advertising & promotion, competitive comparisons, training and sales support.
  • Lead the product planning process to develop and implement strategic product development plans according to market indicators to ensure ongoing product suitability, competitiveness and profitability.
  • Develop global market analysis reporting and product action plans. Describe in detail the sales results vs goals, profitability, global & regional market trends, competitors' actions, and priorities for prior and upcoming years.
  • Conduct machine and customer surveys to determine customer needs, trends, opportunities and competitive information. Develop appropriate action plans based on survey results.
  • Collaborate with Technical Product Support, Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing and Purchasing to recommend improvements in assigned product or products, based on regular analysis of market trends and opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain highly effective sales tools for in-house training, distributor training and customer presentations. To include brochures, specification sheets, product bulletins, marketing programs, communication plans and strategies video, trade shows, conventions, and Field Days..
  • Lead, engage and develop EDT product team members.
  • Develop complimentary product knowledge and skills to be an effective member of the product management teams.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required (Highly Preferred disciplines include engineering, mining engineering or business.).   Advanced Degree is a plus.
  • 5+ years experience in product management, product development, sales and marketing in the construction/mining industry (with an equipment supplier or dealer).  International assignment desirable.
  • Excellent Communication and Public Speaking Skills with an ability to demonstrate confidence in material knowledge.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to develop, engage and motivate people while providing clear direction.
  • Prior Computer experience with (MS Office, CRM) and ability to learn additional Komatsu Applications as required.
  • Strong ability to analyze complex technical situations, determine root cause, identify actions, and lead resolution/implementation.
  • Highly Organized and Time Manager, especially relating to optimizing travel and customer/product visits.
  • Knowledge and experience with the product development process, including new product development from concept to production.
