Job Overview
The Product Cost Analyst supports product costing, cost analysis, and cost improvement activities across the organization. This role works closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Finance to understand product cost drivers and provide data that supports business decisions.
The Product Cost Analyst assists with developing and maintaining product cost information, supports new product development efforts, analyzes manufacturing costs, and participates in continuous improvement initiatives. This position is designed for a college graduate or professional who is interested in building a career that combines manufacturing, engineering, and business analysis.
Training and mentorship will be provided to help develop expertise in product costing, manufacturing processes, and cross-functional business operations.
Key Job Responsibilities
Product Costing & Analysis
- Assist in developing and maintaining product cost models, including material, labor, overhead, freight, and supplier costs.
- Create and maintain costed Bills of Material (BOMs) and manufacturing routings.
- Support cost estimates for new products, engineering changes, and sourcing decisions.
- Analyze cost data and identify trends, opportunities, and potential risks.
- Prepare reports and summaries to support business and management decision-making.
Continuous Improvement
- Support cost reduction and value engineering initiatives.
- Assist in identifying manufacturing and product cost drivers.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects focused on productivity, efficiency, and waste reduction.
- Help track and report cost savings initiatives.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Finance teams.
- Support new product introduction activities by providing cost analysis and recommendations.
- Maintain accurate product cost data within ERP systems.
- Participate in cross-functional meetings and project teams.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, Industrial Technology, or a related technical discipline.
- 0-2 years of experience in manufacturing, engineering, product support, continuous improvement, cost analysis, or a related field. Internship, co-op, and project experience will be considered.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to interpret technical information and analyze data.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Eagerness to learn and develop technical and business knowledge in a manufacturing setting.
Additional Information
Preferred Qualifications
- Internship, co-op, or project experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Exposure to manufacturing processes such as machining, welding, fabrication, assembly, casting, or forging.
- Familiarity with engineering drawings, Bills of Material (BOMs), and manufacturing routings.
- Experience using ERP systems, Power BI, or data analysis tools.
- Interest in manufacturing operations, product costing, and continuous improvement.

Hiring Range
At Komatsu, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. This role pays $67,400 - $84,500. The actual offer will consider a wide range of factors, including experience and location.
