Job Overview
The Manufacturing Manager of Assembly & Components Operations reports to the Plant GM. This individual contributes to the strategic and tactical direction of the manufacturing operations as well as provides operational oversight of the department through manufacturing management systems. Encumbent will direct and coordinates all stages of the manufacturing process from production order release through shipping.
Key Job Responsibilities
Manage variable/capacity budgets of +$15 million. Manage hourly work force of 200 to 400 and salaried workforce of approx. 30. Ship 100 to 600 units valued at $400 million to >$1 billion as well as million for parts service.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Set goals, performance criteria, and metrics. Monitor and correct to improve performance.
- Recommend and support safety excellence. Maintain a safe, clean environment for all.
- Identify process improvement opportunities. Analyze results and implement solutions.
- Perform administrative tasks for efficient operations, including budgeting.
- Foster talent retention by evaluating, coaching, and developing employees.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.
- Enforce labor agreements and company policies in manufacturing.
- Support Equal Employment Opportunity and prevent workplace harassment.
- Guide subordinates in resolving challenges.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in business, engineering or relevant topic plus 5 years senior management experience.
- Broad knowledge of manufacturing discipline including employee relations including collective bargaining, manufacturing engineer, and safety, etc.
- Extensive operations experience leading process and people towards organization targets.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills to work with all levels of the organization as well as external suppliers and/or constituents.
- Must be an organized, assertive and strategic thinker who uses data to organize, track and improve processes.
Additional Information
Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the associate is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (life, carry, move) light to medium weights of 1-10 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application information. The associate frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear.
Physical ability to work in a manufacturing environment, which has industrial equipment and associated personnel performing varied assembly work, some of which includes heavy / hot work (e.g. welding). This work will commonly require walking around equipment and the associated tooling within the manufacturing facility to review the assembly and manufacturing of heavy equipment and related processes.
Hiring Range
At Komatsu, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. This role pays $103,000. The actual offer will consider a wide range of factors, including experience and location.
