Job Overview
This position exists to provide North American Engineering & Development with expertise in the research, design, development and support mining truck drive systems including electric drive systems, and energy storage systems. This position will participate in the electrical design of power systems, drive system and energy storage system, support the specification of major components and support systems in the field.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Support for the design of drive systems that integrate hardware and software
- Support electrical circuit design involving selection of breakers, contractors, fuses, wire sizes, shielding, connectors, busbars, I/Os to the controller, etc.
- Lead / supports schematics preparation, Bill of Materials / parts creation and drawing release process
- Support review of relevant standards, test protocols;
- Support QA processes and product verification / validation documentation, etc.
- Support product release documentation involving troubleshooting manuals, parts datasheets, drawings, service manuals, etc.
Qualifications/Requirements
- BS/BA in electrical/computer engineering or advanced degree, where required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Based in Peoria, IL for better collaboration with product teams. Hybrid work environment provided.
- Typically, 2-3 years of successful experience in related field and successful demonstration of key responsibilities and knowledge as presented above.
- Specific and demonstrable technical knowledge on electric drive systems gained by designing or simulating drive systems and/or related components. Good knowledge of drive system theory, function and operation is essential.
- Familiarity with electrical schematic design software tool: CAPITAL, EPLAN,AUTOCAD E, etc.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required to work within engineering as well as with other departments, vendors and subordinates and the ability to present to Senior Management.
- Ability to take ownership of projects and drive them to completion with some supervision.
- Proficiency in software applications including Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point, as a minimum.
- Ability and willingness to travel, including international travel up to 25% of working time.
- Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the associate is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (life, carry, move) light to medium weights of 1-10 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application information. The associate frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear.

Hiring Range
At Komatsu, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. This role pays $73,800 - $92,300. The actual offer will consider a wide range of factors, including experience and location.
