Reporting to the Remuneration and Benefits Manager, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely payroll delivery for our large, diverse Australian workforce.
About the role.
As Payroll Officer, you will be responsible for the accurate processing and coordination of weekly, fortnightly, and monthly payrolls across designated regions.
You’ll ensure compliance with legislation, awards, and enterprise agreements, while providing professional payroll support to employees and stakeholders.
This role suits someone who enjoys working with detail, meeting deadlines, and contributing to process improvement in a high‑trust environment.
Key responsibilities.
- End‑to‑end processing of weekly payroll
- Ensure compliance with relevant awards, enterprise agreements, and legislation
- Process payroll tax, PAYG, and month‑end reporting
- Accurate calculation of superannuation and workers compensation
- Support year‑end payroll processing and statutory reporting (ATO)
- Manage payroll enquiries and provide high‑quality internal customer service
- Maintain accurate payroll and personnel records
- Prepare payroll reports and process EFT payments
- Contribute to continuous improvement of payroll systems, processes, and documentation

Critical skill and competency requirements:
Applied knowledge: Utilises payroll legislation, agreements, and company policy in practical payroll tasks. Skilled with payroll systems (ideally ADP & Kronos), Excel, and reporting tools. Processes complex calculations and statutory payments accurately.
Business Acumen: Applies enterprise agreements, awards, taxes, and statutory requirements to ensure compliance and reduce risk. Supports accurate reporting, reconciliations, and payroll controls for strong business results.
Collaboration: Partners with HR, Finance, managers, and employees to address payroll enquiries efficiently. Maintains strong relationships with stakeholders such as the ATO and banks, demonstrating a customer-focused approach and upholding confidentiality and integrity.
Adaptability & Agility: Adjusts quickly to changing priorities, deadlines, systems, and regulations. Continuously improves processes for greater accuracy and efficiency.
