Overview.

This is your opportunity to join Komatsu, a global leader in mining systems and services, and become part of a team that values safety, reliability, innovation, and customer focus.

As a Product Specialist, you’ll play a pivotal role in the successful installation, commissioning, and performance optimisation of Komatsu mining systems.

You’ll support new product launches, drive technical excellence, and help maintain Komatsu’s reputation as a leading supplier in the industry.

This role collaborates across Australian and global teams, applying your technical knowledge of underground mining machinery to optimise reliability and productivity.

Key elements of the role.

  • Facilitate flawless start-up plans and introduce new products to the field.
  • Develop and standardise equipment commissioning and performance ramp-up plans.
  • Provide advanced technical support and guidance for machine assemblies and installations.
  • Coordinate new product field trials and document results for product enhancement.
  • Collate field data for root cause analysis of major failures and reliability issues.
  • Maintain communication between customers and Komatsu workshops to resolve issues expediently.
  • Support Smart Solutions and LCM objectives, sharing knowledge with service and training teams.
  • Liaise with customers to recommend and facilitate mining system performance improvements.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of product range and industry trends.
  • Ensure compliance with EHS requirements and site inductions across multiple states.
  • Promote safety and report workplace hazards, incidents, and near-misses.

We’re looking for someone who

  • Understands mining systems — planning, operations, and the realities on the groun
  • Has experience solving engineering problems in the field, not just in theory.
  • Knows their way around Australian Standards, Mines Department regulations, and Hazardous Area requirements.
  • Can dig into new technologies independently and figure out what’s useful.

But it’s not just about technical skills.

We value people who

  • Identify problems early and take the time to thoroughly investigate.
  • Communicate clearly and directly to achieve collective goals.
  • Work well with everyone, especially in complex teams where not everything is linear.
  • Can travel when needed and are flexible with hours when the job calls for it
