Job Overview
We are currently looking for an experienced Mechanical Fitter/Machinist who can take on the challenge of working hands on in the machine shop and carrying out gearbox and transmission rebuilds at our facility in Rockhampton.
Key Job Responsibilities
Reporting to the Business Unit Manager, duties will include but are not limited to:

- Working hands on to execute assigned work to required standards.
- Ensure standard work practices and procedures are followed.
- Assist in the control of consumable and tooling usage to minimise wastage.
- Ensure Corporate Engineering Standards are met.
- Mechanical repairs of including planned maintenance, welding, cutting, fabrication, motor alignment
- Greasing routines and setup of mechanical equipment
- Monitor auto lube system to ensure maximum availability
- Provide support and assistance to Supervisor
- Monitor and report status of KMC work tools
- Housekeeping of KMC tool store & storage areas
Qualifications/Requirements
To be successful in this position, the following skills and experience are desired:
- Relevant trade qualification in a mechanical and machinist role
- Demonstrated experience in operating Centre Lathes, Radial Drills, Horizontal and Vertical Borers, Milling machines, C.N.C borer operation is advantageous
- Minimum 5 years workshop experience
- Previous experience working as a leading hand or similar
- Demonstrated experience in the rebuild of gearboxes and transmissions
- Sound computer skills – Word, Excel, Kronos.
- Experience in the use of SAP
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritise and plan jobs.
