Apprenticeship overview.

• Undertake four years of nationally recognised training, completing your Cert III – Engineering (Mechanical) at Rockhampton TAFE.
• A rotation plan allowing you to gain skills and experience across each specialist area of our workshops.
• Mentorship by expert trades people.
• Work in a highly equipped workshop with a diverse range of tools and equipment.

The hands-on skills and experience you’ll gain in your four-year apprenticeship with Komatsu

• Use of a variety of machining tools and precision instruments to cut, shape and finish materials to create parts and components.
• Operation of callipers, micrometres and gauges, computer numerical control (CNC) machines, lathes, milling and drilling machines, and grinders.
• Assemble, test, rebuild, and repair mechanical components.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues on a range of specialty areas including hydraulics, machining, gearboxes, and electric motors.
• Read machine schematics and detailed equipment drawings.
• Implement and follow comprehensive safety processes and quality control measures.
• Skills and competencies in business skills, public speaking and leadership.
