The Opportunity

Are you an emerging EHS professional with experience in heavy manufacturing or similar industry? Komatsu are looking for the right person to support our large (150+) workforce in Rockhampton (Parkhurst) QLD where we repair Joy Mining Longwalls, Shuttle Cars, Continuous Miners and associated OEM componentry.

Key Job Responsibilities

Reporting to the National EHS Manager you will work within the National Safety management framework. You are empowered to drive continuous EHS improvement and develop and execute strategic, globally aligned EHS plans with your stakeholders. Working closely with the Rockhampton Operations Manager, the site management team and the Regional Service manager and their team. Developing strong working relationships with all stakeholders is critical to safety improvement.

This is a hands-on face to face role. You will be required to invest significant time with worksite trades people, site managers, supervisors, leading hands, and contractors, supporting, influencing, and coaching them in meeting and exceeding their EHS duties

Minimum qualifications/experience for this role:

  • Proven practical experience across the full spectrum as a Safety professional  in an influential EHS role
  • Preference is for post grad qualification in WHS/EHS, however undergrad or Diploma with appropriate work history and experience may be considered.
  • Incident Investigation qualification – ICAM with strong Root Cause Analysis is preferred.
  • Risk management qualifications
  • Certificate IV Workplace Assessment & Training (desirable)
  • Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator (desirable)

Demonstrated practical experience in:

  • Experience in manufacturing/repair trades, transport, load shift and storage.
  • Experience working with high mobile plant traffic pedestrian interaction, bridge/gantry cranes and rigging.
  • Practical hands-on problem solving, and solutions driven professional.
  • Demonstrated influencing and conflict resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Must be well organised and have good time management skills with strengths in excel, word, reporting and data analytics, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to think and act in a flexible manner.
