Job Overview
The Trade & Customs Compliance Analyst at Komatsu Mining will a member of the team that will be working with Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), ECCN Classifications, Export and Import Audit Filings, Harmonized Tariff Schedules (HTS) Classifications, Export Licensing, etc..
This Role will be based at the Oak Creek, WI Komatsu Mining facility.
Key Job Responsibilities
• Advise and oversee process for Tariff Number (HTS) and Export Control Classification (ECCN) assignment. Team with Engineering and Supply Chain departments along with external vendors to provide technical expertise regarding parts and components classifications. Determine technology controls and licensing.
• Interpret, analyze and summarize Import/Export Compliance Requirements and Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) applicable to all Komatsu entities. Qualify goods under applicable FTAs to affect the elimination and/or reduction in import duties on transactions. Issue proper certifications where goods are FTA qualified.
• Counsel and guide Supply Chain in responsibility to obtain country of origin data, annual vendor NAFTA, BOMs and classification descriptions. Work with vendors and subsidiaries to provide advice and information to drive compliance documentation and workflow.
• Liaise with appropriate departments to facilitate, develop, implement, assess, and/or improve import/export processes that adhere to International Trade Control regulations. Conduct audits and training.
• Develop, document and maintain appropriate processes and record-keeping of import and export requirements, assisting Komatsu Businesses and Subsidiaries in implementation of consistent processes.
• Handle varied projects covering all aspects of operational trade and customs compliance policies, procedures, methodologies, legal, regulatory, treasury, and logistics matters.
• Consult on export and import trade compliance requirements in support of one-off exports with cross-functional teams, e.g. Credit, Commercial Group, Customer Service, International Operations.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in international business, global logistics, or supply chain management. Master’s degree and/or Licensed Customs House Broker License is desirable
- 2+ years experience with International Trade Transactions, familiar with Code of Federal Regulations, Harmonized Tariff Schedules, Commerce Control List, Trade Agreements, Payment Mechanisms, Overall Trade Documentation
- Experience with Free Trade Agreements Qualification Analyses
- Proficient with Harmonized Tariff Product Classification and Export Control Classification
- Overall understanding of Export and Import Processes, Controls and Documentation
- Proficient in MS Office; ERP/GTS/SAP experience is a plus
