Job Overview

The Senior Trade & Customs Compliance Analyst at Komatsu Mining will give you the opportunity to be the owner of ECCN classifications, Export and Import Audit Filings, HTS Classifications, and Export Licensing.   This is a critical Role within Komatsu Mining to assist in reducing risk / fines and optimization of cost reductions related to incoming and outgoing parts / goods.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Manage issues relating to proper legal interpretation of the Harmonized Tarif Schedule, Country of Origin designations, Customs Valuations, International Trade Administration’s anti-dumping regulated product flows, duty drawback, and other governmental programs driving exemptions of products and purchases.
  • Collaboratively represent Komatsu with Customs and other governmental agencies, freight forwarders, regional partners and vendors on issues with regulations and laws surrounding international initiatives.
  • Influence and coordinate resources to maximize import and export compliance for products, parts, and components to minimize significant, adverse governmental actions while also minimizing cost and providing expedient delivery service and reliability.
  • Drive company-wide trade and customs compliance process improvements and operations, routinely addressing risk, process,  and value regarding policy, procedures, systems, and payments.
  • Manage U.S. and foreign government trade compliance inquires and/or audits.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelors' Degree is preferred.  An Advanced Degree is helpful.
  • 10+ years business experience.
  • Current Customs House Brokerage License is a preference.
  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. Customs laws, Harmonized Tariff Classification and application of Import/Export trade regulations.
  • All-encompassing Global Trade and Customs Compliance experience including some background working within International Operations and Logistics.
  • Strong project management and Global Trade Systems experience (e.g. Internal – ERP; External – ACE).
  • Influence outcomes and build rapport, representing Komatsu with regional partners, regulators, and outside firms/agencies.
  • Self-starter, able to work independently or as a collaborative team member.
  • Able to multi-task and enjoy working in a fast-paced work environment.
