Job Overview

The Logistics Clerk (2nd shift) is responsible for packaging, protecting, and routing materials to various destinations including departments, plants, sites, customers, and vendors. This role involves handling both domestic and export materials, performing shipping tasks, and managing the flow of materials through the department. The position requires attention to detail, safe handling practices, and effective use of equipment and systems to ensure accurate and timely processing of materials. 
 
Schedule: Monday-Friday 3:00pm - 11:00 pm
 
Pay: $27.90 per hour
 
Shift Differential: $1.25 per hour

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Verify material quality and quantity against vendor and company documentation.
  • Receive, count, sort, audit, and store materials in designated locations using business management systems.
  • Pick and deliver materials based on pick tickets, ensuring accuracy in part numbers and quantities.
  • Pack materials according to specifications using appropriate packing materials and methods.
  • Perform outside crating for oversized items and construct crates, boxes, or skids when needed.
  • Operate equipment such as forklifts, cranes, and shrink wrap machines safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area and follow all safety procedures.
  • Expedite material flow and load trucks as needed.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to read and follow packing instructions and specification sheets.
  • Experience with material handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, cranes).
  • Familiarity with business operating systems and handheld scanners.
  • Basic knowledge of shipping documentation (e.g., bills of lading, packing lists).
  • Comfortable working with various materials including machine parts, weldments, and raw materials.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to report discrepancies.
  • Ability to work independently and follow established procedures.
  • Physical ability to lift, move, and package materials safely.

Additional Information

Union: This position is eligible to be part of the United Steelworkers Local 1114 after 480 hours of employment.
