Job Overview

The Transportation Logisitics Analyst Role at Komatsu will be working with and through various carriers, suppliers, manufacturing plants, global offices and facilities, warehouses, distribution centers, service centers, etc..  This Role will be involved with nearly $100M+ in global freight expense and $40M GL & Distribution expenses.. The Transportation Logistics Analyst Role will potentially travel up to 15% to meet with carriers, personnel face-to-face meetings and problem solving activities. in various locations including U.S. Komatsu Distribution Facilities, Komatsu Manufacturing Plants and Service Centers, Ports, Global Offices, etc.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Collect and analyze data for trending, six sigma quantitative improvements, and balanced scorecard metrics

  • Provide oversight and input to optimize delivery of product and service, helping determine those vendors/partners who can achieve cost reductions and service goals. Design logistics programs that continuously drive best practice, meet quality standards, and focus on  total cost management.

  • Develop and improve upon packaging, load building/planning, and physical constructs involved with logistics programs

  • Drive logistics improvements based on detailed cost benefit analysis from idea stage to full implementation. Conduct analyses and research on logistics improvements, practices and policies which deter defects, improve cycle times, and improve customer satisfaction. Link global solutions to measurable logistics objectives and continued cost reduction and service enhancements

  • Analyse and recommend solutions for technology based solutions for aspects as broad as load density to cube utilization, accessorial charges to labor productivity , claims management to RMA’s

  • Support global logistics and distribution strategy with detailed analytics and improved technological applications.  Maintain internal and external relationships to support selection of optimal partners, pricing, and operational standards

  • Establish routine analytics that provide assurance that the distribution system is delivering as it intends.  Analyze performance of logistics providers, structure QBR’s and global feedback loop with regional partners

  • Manage and measure inputs and outputs associated with 3PL/4PL and logistics processes that link  order demand and customer requirements throughout  order to cash process.  Measure all spend blocks, review short and long term strategies associated with each mode and top vendors

  • Liaise with domestic and international departmental teams for daily support and managerial oversight of inventory flow, risk  and claims management, insurance, compliance, data management, and ad hoc logistics requests

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelors degree required.  Advanced degree preferred.
  • 5-7 years total business experience
  • 3-5 years international, logistics, and/or distribution experience
  • Leadership Roles on substantial logistics projects
  • Worked with or for large multi-national company

  • Strong analytical, investigative, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong negotiation skill and organizational influence
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Strong EXCEL Skills), Visio and Project.  MicroSoft BI experience is a strong plus.
  • Ability to multi-task, working as team champion as well as team member in matrix’d organization
