Job Overview
This position is responsible for providing technical field support and service expertise to customer operations, ensuring the successful installation, maintenance, and performance of new and rebuilt equipment. The role partners closely with customer maintenance teams to troubleshoot issues, optimize equipment reliability, and deliver timely, high-quality support that drives customer satisfaction and operational uptime.
The Field Service Representative also collaborates with internal teams—including Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Warehouse operations—to support equipment specifications, parts sales, and service solutions. In addition, the role contributes to achieving business objectives by assisting the sales team in developing customer proposals, promoting repair parts and components, and supporting territorial sales performance.
Operating with a high level of independence, this role requires strong technical expertise, customer engagement skills, and the ability to coordinate cross-functional resources to effectively solve problems and support customer needs in the field.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Ability to make recommendations to mine personnel on use and maintenance of Komatsu equipment.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair Komatsu equipment. Able to write accurate field reports.
- Understands machine specifications and performs inspections for customers.
- Participates in machine installation and commissioning to insure a flawless start-up. Generates reports related to specific start-up issues. Handles CRISP projects in an efficient manner.
- Able to adjust Komatsu equipment to achieve operational targets and ensures machine is operating to specifications.
- Know how to effectively operate select Komatsu equipment including pre-start, start-up, shutdown and all safety procedures.
- Provides “hands on” training to customers at mine site on select equipment.
- Understands and is effective with Komatsu service applications such as Sales Force, SAP, Concur, etc.
- Effectively writes field service reports and understands root cause of problems on Komatsu equipment.
- Can effectively communicate at the mine level and influence positive decisions for repeat business. Attends and participates in both internal and external sales meetings.
Qualifications/Requirements
The position requires 1-3 years underground experience related to the repair and installation of both electrical and mechanical components on Komatsu equipment along with competitive machinery. Must have MSHA underground certification and be able to meet all MSHA safety requirements. Preferred educational background is a BS in Electrical, Mining or Mechanical Engineering.

Hiring Range
At Komatsu, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. This role pays $68,200-85,300. The actual offer will consider a wide range of factors, including experience and location.
