Job Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a Tax Manager to join our team in Milwaukee, WI (South Harbor District). The Tax Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and strategic alignment of the company’s tax functions. This position oversees all aspects of tax accounting, compliance, planning, and audit support while driving process efficiency through technology and continuous improvement. The Tax Manager will serve as a key liaison between internal departments, external advisors, and regulatory bodies, ensuring all obligations are met accurately and on time.
Key Job Responsibilities
Tax Accounting & Compliance

Manage preparation and review of federal, state, franchise, and excise tax returns and the company’s tax provision.

Ensure timely and accurate quarterly estimated tax payments and domestic tax reporting.

Oversee team workflows to meet compliance and reporting deadlines.

Utilize technology to enhance efficiency in tax data collection and reporting.

Maintain strong relationships with internal teams and external advisors to optimize resources.

Support data gathering, documentation, and knowledge sharing within the tax team.
Tax Planning & Strategy

Oversee key tax calculations, including R&D credits, FDII, foreign inclusions, fixed assets, and state modifications.

Support restructuring initiatives to align operations with tax efficiency goals.

Assist with due diligence, post-acquisition integrations, and divestiture planning.

Manage incentives for expansion, relocation, or operational changes across jurisdictions.

Monitor and communicate the impact of tax law changes on the company.

Promote technology adoption and continuous improvement within the tax function.

Represent the tax department in ERP and system transformation initiatives.
Audit & Compliance Oversight

Support federal income tax audits and manage responses to inquiries.

Lead and resolve state income, franchise, and sales/use tax audits.

Ensure proper accounting for audit-related items under ASC 740 and FAS 5.
Leadership & Development

Mentor and coach tax staff to build expertise and professional growth.

Provide clear feedback, manage workloads equitably, and guide goal achievement.

Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications/Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (advanced degree in Accounting or Tax preferred).

CPA or equivalent professional certification strongly preferred.

Minimum of 7 years of experience in corporate income tax, with a solid understanding of federal and state regulations.

Proven ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.

Experience with OneSource, SAP, and Microsoft Office applications.

Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Commitment to leveraging technology and improving tax processes to support business objectives.
