Job Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Talent Development Specialist to join our Human Resources team! The Talent Development Specialist will work as part of the Talent Development center of excellence to support talent programs for the North America region and Global Mining Solutions organizations. The primary scope of this role will focus on learning and development programs but will also contribute to the design and implementation of programs such as, but not limited to, performance management, succession planning, career planning, and leadership development. This role will be based at Komatsu's Milwaukee, WI or Chicago, IL (O'Hare) headquarters. 

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Responds to internal requests for information, training and development through initial needs analysis.

  • Designs live classroom, live virtual, and eLearning courses, supporting materials or toolkits and information sessions based on sound adult learning and instructional design knowledge and experience.

  • Evaluates existing development options and manages vendor relationships to continuously improve formal learning and other development opportunities offered through the TD calendar and other internal marketing channels.

  • Effectively facilitates learning including complex course material and multi-level audiences.

  • Contributes to talent program design and sustainability best practices in performance management, succession planning, calibration, employee engagement, change management, assessment and coaching, career development planning and leadership development.

  • Effectively markets and communicates information, champions program and training offerings to help drive registration and participation levels for new and existing programs and courses.

  • Routinely responds to requests and questions related to availability of courses and learning objectives and recommend appropriate solutions to meet the learner’s needs.

  • Participate in vendor meetings to share data, provide feedback and offer suggestions and ideas.

  • Facilitate core leadership development programs and other training/courses as required.

  • Recommend course content to fill gaps in the Komatsu curriculum, design and deliver the courses, facilitator and participant materials, and other tools as needed.

  • Support succession planning and talent management programs by creating content, coordinating and communicating various activities.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Communications or related field of study. Associate's degree with 3 or more years of relevant work experience in HR or OD may be considered. 

  • 5+ years of progressive work experience in human resources, talent development/management and/or learning development 

  • Strong facilitation skills/capability with ability to adapt approach based on audience needs. DDI or other facilitator certification or qualification is a plus. 

  • SAP/SuccessFactors, LMS (Learning Management System), and Microsoft Teams experience a plus

  • Experience with Articulate Storyline or other eLearning software

  • Experience designing and developing learning content to support talent programs and leadership development

  • Ability to work collaboratively with all levels of the organization and across multiple sites globally

  • Ability to flex communication style for varying audiences

  • Excellent written, visual, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Strong project management skills, ability to develop plans and meet deliverables on multiple concurrent projects

  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of time as needed
