Job Overview

The Talent Development Manager drives initiatives to support a culture of coaching and development at Komatsu, across the Komatsu North America Region and Global Mining solutions. The scope of the position requires expertise in learning methodologies and evaluation, talent development program creation, implementation, measurement and reporting, as well as consulting in the organizational development space related to change management practices, organization design, and creating a learning culture. 

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Performs needs analysis and learning journey design 
  • Curates learning offerings and participates in the selection of vendor and  other contracted resources  
  • Implements the engagement survey process and provides data to key stakeholders
  • Provides overview/review sessions coordinated with annual programs such as performance management, calibration/talent review, and succession planning.      
  • Consults on best practices for employee and manager development planning, coaching, change management, training evaluation, and 360 feedback and other assessment options.
  • Acts as a subject matter expert and resource supporting the performance management, calibration, and succession planning processes in the regions
  • Leads and supports the calibration/talent review process through communication, live briefing sessions, periodic monitoring, and continuous improvement.
  • Drives organizational adoption of  K-Success modules via information, overview/briefing sessions and monitoring utilization rates. 
  • Supports the succession planning process by facilitating talent development reviews, managing process preparation and scheduling, and consolidating global metrics for reporting to executive leadership.
  • Creates, supports facilitates and ensures sustainability of earning programs as needed


  • Bachelor’s Degree in human resource or a related field
  • 5+ years of progressive work experience in human resources, talent development and/or learning development 
  • Experience driving talent initiatives and building relationships that gain buy-in and commitment to the value of learning initiatives.  
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks; manage and meet deadlines. Project management experience is a plus.
  • Ability to establish credibility and build collaborative partnerships with all levels of management and individuals across a broad range of business groups.
  • Ability to effectively lead direct report’s performance if applicable
  • Experience in aligning projects, tasks and goals with departmental and organizational strategy.
  • Proficiency in written and verbal communication
  • Experience with the Microsoft suite of programs (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
  • Experience with Teams for holding live meetings, briefings and review sessions on learning programs and other virtual classes a plus
  • Experience partnering with Talent Acquisition and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion a plus
