Job Overview

The Senior Product Specialist - Shovels Role at Komatsu Mining is supporting the overall management of  the current Komatsu Electric Rope Shovel Portfolio, Options & Pricing along with future development plans and NPI initiatives. This will also include but not be limited to product costing and pricing strategies, customer data, product line strategies, marketing and press release information (prior to release), etc..   Please see below for additional duties for this Role......

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Support the management of current electric rope shovel portfolio, options & pricing, development plans and NPI initiatives
  • Participate in new product development for electric rope shovels, Work with the development team to develop feature backlogs and product documentation such as user stories, use cases, logic flows and functional specifications.  Coordinate closely with Shovel Program Manager around NPD process and required support from Product Management team.
  • Support sales and production introductions for assigned portion of electric rope shovel portfolio across Komatsu sales and dealer network.  Develop sales support kits, RFQ response database and  insure marketing literature is up to date.   Create marketing materials for products with Marketing Communications, including presentations, competitive comparisons, animations, videos, literature and promotional materials.
  • Support product management team with activities including product positioning, product launches, technical sales support presentations and dealer sales training.  
  • Understand and communicate market dynamics for electric rope shovels through market research and relationships with customers, third parties and region sales & service personnel.
  • Visit customers and distributors to present products, build relationships and understand applications, requirements and market.  Host factory visits from customers.
  • Participate in VOB/VOC activities as needed.
  • Evaluate requests from the field and participate in project definition meetings to ensure compliance to customer requirements.

 

 

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Marketing or related field is required
  • 3+ years’ experience in product development, product marketing, engineering or other technical equipment roles.
  • Global Mining Industry Experience is a plus.
  • Previous Electric Rope Shovel and/or Mining Experience is preferred.
  • Excellent Communication and Public Speaking skills with ability to demonstrate confidence in material knowledge.
  • Technical aptitude and experience with market analysis, strategic planning, and equipment sales desired.
  • Ability to influence within a matrixed organization.
