Job Overview
Create or revise operation, maintenance, and repair instructions associated with Komatsu equipment and provide direction to other Technical Information positions as required.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Information Gathering: Research engineering drawings; blueprints; electrical, hydraulic, and/or pneumatic schematics; manufacturing operating procedures; applicable industry standards; other internal and external documents; interviews with engineers, service technicians, tradesmen and assemblers; attend equipment kick-off meetings; and coordination with third-party manufacturers and suppliers for information regarding equipment operation, installation and removal, assembly and disassembly, maintenance, adjustments, repairs and lubrication.
- Information Development: Independently, create XML Content using guidelines with supplied maps and annotated topic lists.
- Illustration Creation/Revision: Create, manipulate, or revise photos, 2D/3D Engineering CAD data in various tools including Adobe Creative Cloud, Lightweight CAD tools. Coordinate as needed with outsource support for overflow and illustration support.
- Technology Integration: Expert level understanding of DITA XML, and related tools, XML Editors, Terminology and STE Manager, CCMS System. Perform code-level reviews of other individual's XML content. Creates and Deploys GenAI solutions. Maintains professional awareness of tools, methods used in technical communications outside of the corporation.
- Project Management: Manage projects accurately and on time. Provide timely edits to confirm that format, spelling, and style are in accordance with published standards. Leads outsource support coordination related to projects, providing reports to the Principal or Manager.
- Collaboration: Work with SMEs to ensure the appropriate information is beneficial to field service teams and end customer. Provide system administrative support for relative programs.
- Leadership: Lead or support department-related and company goals with root cause analysis and completed solutions.
Knowledge Transfer: Can teach others and supervise fully qualified and Associate Technical Information positions.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor’s in Engineering, Technical Communications, or related work/military experience.
- 5+ years related experience in technical communications including experience in a technical role related to engineering, manufacturing, service technician or factory technical advisor roles.
- Possibly 5-10% travel to examine equipment in the field; Gemba with customers or distributors; industry specific seminars/training; departmental training or meetings.
- Must showcase ability to train others and lead projects.
- Must showcase project management in core and goals.
- Basic technical communication system administration knowledge and understanding.
- Strong problem-solving and system knowledge.
- Ability to build rapport and maintain positive relationships with others, collaborate across functions, and train others.
- Commitment to staying updated with technology and best practices.
- Technical aptitude or ability to learn Komatsu machine systems or technical content.
- Leadership and mentoring skills.
