Job Overview

The Dynamics Simulation and Analysis Team is responsible for the dynamic analysis of mining vehicles and related subsystems. The team continually increases fidelity and capability to build comprehensive digital twins of mining vehicles. As a Dynamics Simulation and Analysis Engineer, you will develop and maintain models, perform dynamic analyses across multiple physics domains, and work closely with Product Engineering Teams to deliver accurate and timely results.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Develop dynamic models of mining vehicles and subsystems at varying levels of fidelity using first principles and advanced computer-aided engineering (CAE) software
  • Analyze simulation and test data to validate dynamic models against measured results
  • Collaborate with multiple Product Engineering Teams
  • Enhance and maintain team tools, processes, and workflows
  • Prepare technical documentation and reports as required
  • Occasional travel as required

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline (Master of Science or Ph.D. preferred)
  • Strong foundation in rigid body kinematics and dynamics, including multi-body dynamics (MBD) and related software (MSC Adams preferred)
  • Experience in one or more of the following:
    • Flexible body dynamics, including vibrations, transient finite element analysis (FEA), and MBD integration (Ansys preferred)
    • Multi-domain system modeling including mechanical, hydraulics, pneumatics, or electrical systems (MSC Easy5 or Simulink preferred)
    • Controls modeling and design (Simulink preferred)
    • Granular material modeling using discrete element methods (DEM) (EDEM preferred)
  • Proficiency in programming or scripting (Matlab or Python preferred)
  • Familiarity with machine learning algorithms and uncertainty quantification
  • Ability to validate and correlate models with test data
  • Strong communication skills to engage effectively with peers, customers, and leadership
  • Self-motivated with strong time management skills
  • Entry to mid-level experience (0–12 years) in dynamics simulation

Hiring Range 

At Komatsu, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. The salary range for this role is $106,600.00 - $133,300.00 - $160,000.00. The actual offer will consider a wide range of factors, including experience and location.
